As 90.Cal noted above, OBJ was a bust at this point.
No... OBJ didnt miss a entire year and then 4 games just the 4 games but good try.
At this point, you had no way of knowing that he would be back for game 5.
We also know that Beal will be back much sooner than that, given that he's steadily improving er Shurmer.
Also, OBJ missed games every season. And given Beal's collegiate history, OBJ likely missed more than Beal will. Was he a bust?
Beal missed his entire rookie year last year. Beckham missed the first four games of his rookie year. Beckham was way ahead of Beal in terms of games played in their rookie years.

Is awful. What I'm going to say next is a bit premature, I'll admit that, but the truth is that I have zero faith in this kid to ever stay healthy or to produce on the field for this team. Its not like they aren't pinned at the top of the thread... who knew a discussion... about the team... would be a problem on a message board for the teams fans... wow. I'll stop posting.

Nobody wants to crucify you and only a handful want to call you jackass, but you should follow the sport for a few years before getting worked up over an injury or two. Lots of players get injured. It's a problem with the sport that's only getting worse. But very few injuries are career-threatening. You'll see. Give it time and before you know it you'll be as knowledgable about the game as the fans who have been following it for years.

That's actually a really good quote. It's year two of this regime, you want to see that arrow pointing in the right direction.
The signs are there, but the team now has to make it happen, and go execute.

Because he has a hamstring injury? Wow.
He cant make it on the god damn field. Not just this year. Last year too. How many years does he get without showcasing anything?
The list of players who had great careers after overcoming injuries early on is pretty long.
A 3rd year Rookie, next season. And all the shit I'm saying now.. everyone will be saying next year.
Odell's hamstring cost him all of training camp PLUS 4 weeks of the regular season. Beal is no Odell meaning he is not coming back week 5 lighting the league up... puh-lease... Shurmur said he would be "ready soon"... about 3 weeks ago! You bet your house on this kid, Eric and others, if you want to... I'm not. That's just my opinion period
Not trying to stir anything up just my last take on Beal. Sorry for keeping it going.
if you were the GM and coach, you would cut your talent 3rd round pick from a year ago because he had shoulder surgery last year and he pulled his hamstring this year. (BTW, he practiced all spring, but you seem to want to ignore that).
The stupidity in these whiny comments is that DG knew that Beal needed surgery and we all knew that DG knew. So Beal was never drafted for last year. They drafted him knowing he would need surgery, he could rehab with the team, learn the defense through film breakdowns weekly and then play this year.
He pulled a hammy. They take time for an explosion type player to heal. The Giants are not going to rush it and get another OBJ type re-injury costing 4 games to start the year.
Take a chill pill and let it play out. There are plenty of young DBs getting valuable reps to strut their stuff and get noticed in the meantime...

This is weird. You did stop posting on one handle, but came back as another?
joints, ligaments, cartiledge, broken bones etc I'd be more concerned..hamstring issues are common with quick twitch explosive athletes so I'm less worried.
Keep him injured and all into regular season, another lost preseason with no practice and evaluation, with likely some tough bottom of the roster cuts.
Stash him on IR, again 2 lost years.
Cut him and stash him on PS, and he shows up this year might be the best option.
Julian Love and Antonio Hamilton working with the starting defense in place of Antoine Bethea and DeAndre Baker.
I think this is Hamilton's second day working with the ones, yesterday (if I'm correct) he was splitting time with Ballentine, today no mention if Ballentine that I saw. Good for AH. Ballentine has impressed so it's great for our depth to see that Hamilton is also impressing enough for starting reps.
Secondly, and what was really interesting to me about this tweet is Love getting first team reps in Bethea's absence. I know that Bethea is the vet who knows Bettcher's system and will be the expected opening day starter, but he didn't impress me in the Jets game (limited action, but still was late and slow in recovery to my eyes, particularly on the opening drive). All things being equal youth wins out in this sport, especially in the defensive backfield, so it's nice to see a true rookie 4th rounder getting starter snaps even if it's on a rest day for the vet. Love looks good to me, even if he's going to go through some rookie growing pains, I'd prefer he get as much experience as he can.

It's because there is no situation with Beal. None. Nada.

A Raiders fan friend of mine was complaining yesterday about their 2018 3rd round pick, Brandon Parker, who was considered a very talented, but developmental prospect when they drafted him. Apparently he is getting bested by 2nd and 3rd stringers in camp and is looking like a bust. I told him that the 3rd round is a popular round for boom or bust prospects. The Giants had an early 2nd round grade on Beal when they drafted him last year. Time will tell, but a shoulder injury and a hamstring injury isn't nearly enough for a jury verdict.

False history. Beal was drafted with Giants' knowledge he had a shoulder issue. If Giants knew he needed surgery, he wouldn't have been on the field to re-injure the shoulder in his first practice, which is what happened.
And the "we all knew" comment is nonsense. Once Beal hurt himself with the Giants, then it came out that NFL teams had known of his shoulder issue. There was no public discussion of the issue before that. No mention in the comments when Beal was drafted.
