Gary Thorne is a fellow Mainer. He did University of Maine hockey for 10 years when it was relevant and was a fill in for Mike Emrick on Maine Mariner games(AHL Championships) during the 70's. His honesty of frustration comes out on every Gleyber homerun. Always loved Thorne and Emrick due to those 70's memories. Poor bastard has to call of the O's disasters.
He's one of the best. The Mattingly call, absolutely, as well as his work in the 1994 Stanley Cup finals. "The Rangers win the Cup! The Rangers win the Cup! The Curse is over! They've done it!"
Agreed. I miss him doing hockey, he and Bill Clement (Clement Clement hands of cement) had great chemistry. Hopefully when the next NHL TV contract happens they will have a deal with ESPN and we can hear it again.
It sucks he has been sentenced to doing O's games for the past decade plus.
Down here in MD obviously watch the Yankees games on their channel. They have great commentary and analysis and arent over the top homers.
Ehh I disagree on Palmer.
Yes, he is very knowledgable about pitching and explains it well, but he talks too much and can be a pompous Yankee hating ass.

Perhaps he has been humbled. Of the two he is obviously going to be the homer. He knows his stuff and is detailed.
