Going this weekend to the park but staying closer towards Harrisburg. Any good restaurants in the area for dinner and then maybe brunch on Sunday? I have no idea if Harrisburg is a nice or if they even have a downtown area. Nothing fancy just good food pubs are fine or a cool bar with good bar food.
I’ve been to Moe’s

Bar and grill. Great wings, especially dry rub. Heard great things about their chicken corn soup and fish sandwich. Kind of tight in there though.
Troegs

I've eaten there multiple times a day on trips to Hershey in the past.
Grew up there

much has changed but there are some good restaurants, nightlife downtown.
Great steaks/seafood just across the river from downtown at a place called Tavern on the Hill.
Ton's of sports bars and breweries that are decent.
Found a really cool hole-in-the-wall Cuban restaurant down in the Shipoke area (south of center-city, riverside)

Yelp is your friend. Enjoy your trip. Hersheypark is a blast. My daughter was just up there 3 weeks ago

Thank you!! Any of the sports bars you recommend? I might try to catch some of the soccer games there Sunday.
Was there a few years

ago, my daughter competed in the figure skating national championships. Rinks in Hershey, Harrisburg and Mechanicsburg (?).

First impression is Harrisburg is a shit hole.

We didn't hang out there too much because we stayed in Hershey.

Fenicci's in Hershey was good. that is the only restaurant that was memorable.

In Hershey I’d recommend The Mill, First Watch, or Irv’s. Troegs is a cool brewery with good food. A primanti bro’s just opened in Hershey, that would probably be a good place to watch a game.

Tattered Flag in Middletown is a cool brewery with good food. They have games on the TV’s. Hoageez in Hummelstown a good little place for lunch.

Dinner places in Harrisburg. Pastorante is our favorite, little Italian BYOB joint. All homemade food. Gabriella is good, The Millworks is good.

what a timely thread. I'm going to be taking my family (wife, almost 5 year old and 18 month old) Mon - Tues. We'll be arriving in the afternoon and plan to use the "sneak peak" feature of the next day day pass.

We were contemplating doing water park in the morning and then maybe zoo then park.

Any "hacks" or suggestions on how to structure the trip?

restaurant and bar was good the two times I've been there. Also, the Hilton has two excellent restaurants, one reasonably priced, the other expensive.

Wouldn't go too far out of my way to go to Harrisburg, but "shit hole" might be a little extreme.

Went to a pretty cool Thai restaurant there. Don't remember name, but food was good and inside of restaurant was pretty cool. It was next to a Quality Inn on the river.

Took my son to Hershey Park and embarrassed him by screaming SHIT! like a foul mouthed little girl on rides. Couldn't help myself.

Arooga's is a popular local wing/sports bar with a few locations. Underdog Sports Bar is another.

Sorry I can't be more specific. I moved away in '99 and only visit every couple of years.
Lots of decent pizza places too (I grew up working at one, heh)
If you can, BRING YOUR FOOD...

...when Hersheypark is crowded, it can take HOURS to get fed.

Some genius decided that made-to-order restaurants like Subway and Moe's belong in an amusement park. Last time we were there it took 2 hours to get lunch.

If you've got your car, pack a cooler and get handstamps to get back in.
yeah extreme wait time for slushy
Dr. D : 8/13/2019 12:07 pm : link
we didn't eat while at Hershey (had big breakfast), but my son wanted a slushy and we waited for about 20 minutes, which seemed like about 40.

Bring water
Dr. D : 8/13/2019 12:13 pm : link
we brought water, but I filled an empty bottle from their water fountain. After drinking about half a bottle filled with their water, I got stomach cramps and worse..

I believe I got the HERSHEY SQUIRTS from Hershey drinking water!

Who woulda thunk?
I passed by Harrisburg several times and stopped at this place for

lunch. They have a huge lunch buffet that includes deserts. You get a great selection of many well cooked dishes. The last time I was there was December.
Thai Palace - ( New Window )
Harvest is really good. Its all farm to table, locally sourced

food. The wine list is pretty extensive too. It's in Harrisburg, very close to Hershey.
Another vote for Fenicci's

Good family owned joint that has been around for years. Owner is very personable and makes the rounds.

Ernie Accorsi mentions it in his book as his favorite place in his hometown.

Try the upside down pizza. Good pie. Also, Ernie often goes there early on Friday nights...he sits at the end of the bar and is out of there by 7:00.
