Stop with all the non-football nonsense on SB Sunday. Do whatever the hell you want on site the day before...concerts...protests...flag football games...sit ins...whatever the hell you want to do. But for Pete's sake (who is Pete, by the way?0 can we just have a freaking Championship football game on SB Sunday?

Fucking ponderous, man...
Tom Petty was the only acceptable halftime show

The Boss was good too. Price IMO was THE BEST.

Nothing tops Super Bowl XXI though...Giants-Broncos...Neil motherfucking Diamond with the national anthem and Up With People as the halftime show.
Price=Prince

or In Living Color halftime special.
So I want to go to a concert,,,
rnargi : 8/13/2019 2:55 pm : link
...and have them take a half hour break in the middle of the show and have the Giants and Eagles come out to play a quarter of football. It only seems fair.

Cool...

for people that are into that sort of thing.

I don't care personally. I'll ignore it like all the talking heads and non-football stuff that the NFL tries to do to make the sport a circus.
I can't remember
Gman11 : 8/13/2019 3:04 pm : link
the last time I watched the halftime show. It's time to get something to eat or go to the bathroom or just get on the internet and see what's going on in the world.
Last years Super Bowl was so fucking boring
Jints in Carolina : 8/13/2019 3:07 pm : link
that no one was really watching by the middle of the second quarter any longer. I don't even remember who the halftime act was.....we were out on the deck drinking and smoking cigars.
Who even watches the halftime show besides women?
Greg from LI : 8/13/2019 3:12 pm : link
The only one I've ever watched was Prince, because Prince was awesome at all times.
Yep
Jints in Carolina : 8/13/2019 3:13 pm : link
Prince IMO was the best halftime show ever.
I was @ a bar for Maroon 5 last year.
SFGFNCGiantsFan : 8/13/2019 3:17 pm : link
There was this 20ish old girl who completely lost their mind when they came on, especially re. Lavine or Levine, however the hell you spell it.
Maroon 5 is one of those bands whose name I've read a million times
Greg from LI : 8/13/2019 3:20 pm : link
but I couldn't name you a song of theirs if you held a gun to my head.

Songs About Jane is a great album. Their other stuff is shit. Moves like Jagger... No thanks
Jay Z is awesome
adamg : 8/13/2019 3:23 pm : link
I'm pumped.
Good
TD : 8/13/2019 3:38 pm : link
Enough of the old farts running up there in tights like it’s the 80s. Nobody wants to see that shit.

Jay Z will attract top talent and put on a hell of a show.
Might make me watch the HT Show again.
And yeah Maroon 5 was lame too
TD : 8/13/2019 3:40 pm : link
Still better than the sweating to the 80s acts.
Halftime shows about to get even worse.
Dave in Hoboken : 8/13/2019 3:41 pm : link
.
I do have to snicker at the "old farts" line
Greg from LI : 8/13/2019 3:42 pm : link
Jay Z is 49 years old and his debut album came out 23 years ago. He's not exactly a fresh face.

An "entertainment and social justice partnership." I'd settle for better officiating, but that's just me.

deal with no agreement for Jay-Z to perform at any point but the league hopes he does.
"entertainment and social justice partnership"
Model4001 : 8/13/2019 4:11 pm : link
Cool, more protesting and tales of struggle and strife from a bunch of pampered millionaires.

The NFL is run by fucking clowns.
this will affect about 20-minutes of people's NFL experience per year

Better than Hollywood, a bunch predatory sex traffickers yelling at us to be as virtuous as they are,
This was probably part of the Kap BS settlement.

Yawn!
prince was def the best performance
Platos : 8/13/2019 5:36 pm : link

"Social justice partnership"...trying hard to not LOL at that
j_rud : 8/13/2019 5:41 pm : link
Not only do I want a completely out of context musical performance in the middle of my sports viewing, but you damn well better solve all the societal ills plaguing this great nation. And you better do it in 30 minutes.
Just bring in...

I never see the halftime show
TJ : 8/13/2019 11:32 pm : link
Too busy getting more food & drink, checking in with the women, letting the dogs out, checking bbi etc.
TBH I'm always surprised when I hear how much money and effort is put in to it.

World
Unreal that the Foo Fighters have yet to play a SB halftime show.
GiantGolfer : 8/14/2019 7:29 am : link
Their songs are some of the most played everywhere in the world and they’ve been around for 25 years.

I’ll even throw this out there (probably needs its own thread)....Dave Grohl is the greatest musician of the last 30 years.

Frisbee dogs are great, but if you are going there, why not go all out. There is not better halftime show than monkeys dressed as cowboys, riding on dogs. Who wouldn't love that?
So we'll take Social Justice Warrior
ghost718 : 8/14/2019 10:51 am : link
take out the Warrior, because that will never fit,and add partnership.

Sound good Rog?, Jigga?
I don't really care about this deal
Matt M. : 8/15/2019 9:22 pm : link
or his partnership with the NFL to promote social justice...whatever that will look like.

What I don't get is the backlash and/or references in the media about Kaepernick not being consulted about this deal. I 100% support his protest and anyone else and think he is getting a raw deal from the league. I also believe it has as much to do with his public displays of support for dictators, the police pig socks, etc. Whether you agree with him or the league or neither, why in Hell would or should he need to be consulted on anything the league does? His opinion on the matter is irrelevant and should continue to be.
