Rosa can pitch in garbage time. He was decent as a starter for SWB, a K/9 around 8 and a BB/9 just north of 2, and he can pitch mid-90's, but he'll probably take Tarpley's job of eating up middle innings.
through the lineup. Would be great to see him start to correct that.
.
Which actually means, he falls in line with most starting
pitchers in the majors these days.
But we don't want him like most. If he can dominate the first two times through he should be able to have enough left in him to finish strong. Like other dominant pitchers. Maybe that's the next step for him.

Probably not this year, though, what with the innings limit.
He had 8 hits in 10 AB against the Twins and since he's been batting under 200. But, he's hit in 12 of the last 15 games including today. So, it's a bit of a weird stretch he's in.
As always. Dude should have more than two MVPs already, but the BBWAA sucks.
Not sure that Trout is more valuable to the Angels than DJLM has been to the Yanks..Trout is the best player in baseball, true. But the Yankees are in 1st place and DJLM is the #1 reason I would argue.

I think the MVP should go to the best player regardless of the team's performance. I see your point though. I just disagree with that line of thinking. I think it becomes too subjective. I wouldn't hold a player's team against them in deciding if they're MVP. Trout is clearly the best player and he's having a career year. He deserves it, imho.
Thought it might be after that long fly following the homer, but he put the next two guys away easily.
Progress.
I really think he can be a solid #2. He has great stuff. Yeah he gives up HRs, but I'm guessing most are of the 1 run variety. Needs to stretch out his starts.

But that is not what the award is - best player. It is Most Valuable Player to his team.
No doubt Trout is best player - but that award would be like NFL Def or Off player of the year. And yes it is quite subjective...and sometimes (but rarely) questionable.

And I would not even think twice if he does win it. Yes, he does deserve recognition for just how truly great he is..

I see your point. I really do. But to me it's like the way the Cy Young used to be skewed towards good teams' players because of the overemphasis on wins. I think WAR is the best stat to encapsulate value and that should be weighed relatively heavily.
That said, I think a good solution would be to have two awards. One for most valuable in a team sense, and another most valuable in an individual sense. One MVP award and one Best Season award. Maybe like a Babe Ruth award for the player with the highest WAR. But, I feel like a guy like Trout deserves all the accolades he can get.

Not a bad idea and it has been floated before. But I'm sure BBWAA would feel it diminishes the MVP.
As for WAR - talk about subjective. Maybe a WAR leader(Babe Ruth - AL / Willie Mays or Hank Aaron - NL) award would be ok.
What I did like is what Ruiz did to block the bag with his foot so there would be no swimmies to avoid the bag. I think fielder need to do it to keep these weird slides from being successful.
but isn't it the 4th and 5th innings that German has the most problems? Now maybe it has more to do with the 3rd time through the order as pointed out earlier, but seems to me he makes his mistakes in those two innings.
I'm not gonna lie - I have no idea who Adonis Rosa is.
I live to serve.
Onwards and let the next homer be a Torres homer!
It works against run of the mill slackers, but not sure what it does against the Astro and Indians. It did work with the Sawx and Twins, though.
Brilliant..
I don't know a thing about Rosas.

Michael Kay (vocal chords) will be activated from the IL soon and is expected to forego a rehab assignment and rejoin the team in the coming days.

Now thrown out at 3rd, but don't care.
