The Giants put WR Amba Etta-Tawo (Achilles) on IR and signed TE Jake Powell. Powell is an undrafted free agent out of Monmouth (Giants loading up on Hawks) who has been with the Saints this offseason

Also, Josiah Searight, who had been sidelined this week with a hip injury, was waived
“Monmouth University tight end Jake Powell was getting a lot of attention for his athleticism and 6-foot-6, 240-pound frame. He was released due to what is being called non-football injury. But with Jake Powell, there had to be some confusion between what the Saints were getting and the product advertised. At his Pro Day, Powell came in a full two inches shorter than what had been in the Monmouth media guide...
His athleticism is also highly suspect with one of his 40 times almost hitting the five-second mark, 4.93, and his best only being 4.76. He recorded a 29-inch vertical jump which would only be good for an NFL guard. A broad jump of 9-foot even and only 10 reps of 225 on the bench press put the athletic claim out the window and into the rubbish bin. Top all of that off with oddly short arms, 32.25-inches, and freakishly small, 9-inch, hands and you’ve got just about everything you don’t want in an NFL tight end in one tidy package.
Throw all that on a cake baked out of lack of college productivity too. Over a three-year period at Monmouth, Powell posted 54 catches for 641 yards and 6 touchdowns. That’s not a lot.“

Yikes
Powell’s return comes days after rookie draft pick Alize Mack left practice with an undisclosed injury. Scouting reports described Powell as a prospect with good size (6-foot-4, 240 pounds) but little experience catching passes, having come from a run-first offense.””

Jenkins was waived from IR. So we have an open spot.

Or do we have two because we waived Alex Jenkins?
