Rookie WR Emanuel Hall cut by Bears

Pete from Woodstock : 8/14/2019 9:42 am
Worth a look see? He was very productive with Lock throwing to him at Mizzu.

From NFL Draft-
Overview
One-trick pony at Missouri with impressive turbo boost to rocket past cornerbacks and take the top off of defenses. Hall's transition into the NFL could be slowed by the challenge of physical press corners with good top-end speed, but his athleticism and short-area quickness should allow him to counter as a three-level route-runner with more exposure to an NFL route tree. It could take time, but he has the size and speed to become a low-volume, high-impact WR2/WR3.
HALL - ( New Window )
Can't stay healthy
Big Rick in FL : 8/14/2019 9:50 am : link
That's part of why they cut him.

Hall can fly.. they must be pretty discouraged with his ability to stay on the field - or lackthereof.
This was listed as his weaknesses
Rudy5757 : 8/14/2019 9:58 am : link
Weaknesses
More sprinter than polished receiver
Route inventory lacking with work confined to one quadrant of the field
Routes are fast but lack finesse
Needs better routes adjustments according to coverage
Ball skills are below average with too many career drops
Doesn't attack football and allows throws to beat him up
Needs to prove he can compete for the ball in traffic
Lacked competitiveness against Georgia and Deandre Baker

Im not for or against them signing him I just think we need to look at other positions. I kind of like our top WRs right now. no stars but I think they can get the job done in short and medium passing and maybe slayton can stretch the field if he can stay healthy.
The talent at WR is pretty thin thanks to all those injuries
jcn56 : 8/14/2019 10:00 am : link
Might not be the worst thing in the world to take a flyer on a guy who's got the physical talent but not the polish.
Ridiculous size/speed/explosion specimen.

For a team that's willing to write off his rookie year, he's an attractive lottery ticket. The sports hernia pretty much wiped out his chances with the Bears, since he was really raw to begin with and couldn't afford to miss all that time. You're unlikely to get much of anything from him in 2019, but it might be worth a waiver claim to take a look. Even if he doesn't make the roster, the team that claims him will have other ways of keeping him around: there's IR, obviously, plus the team he's with might have the inside track on signing him to the practice squad.
After the draft it came out
Andy in Halifax : 8/14/2019 10:02 am : link
that he had medical red flags. Significant ones iirc.
Interesting to compare this guy skillset wise to Slayton
BSIMatt : 8/14/2019 10:08 am : link
...it makes me feel better about Slayton somehow.
I'm hoping my man Olamide Zaccheaus shakes loose from the Falcons
Greg from LI : 8/14/2019 10:13 am : link
Which will probably happen because the Falcons are very deep at receiver. Kid is small but a serious playmaker who has impressed in camp and the first preseason game.
Surprised no one has responded with
Brown Recluse : 8/14/2019 10:32 am : link
"who are we going to cut to make room?"

BBI must be getting smarter.

DG was pretty aggressive adding to picking up players released last year. Early in the season last year we were 2nd on the waiver wire which helped. I don't know if they will sign anyone this year at cutdown but I am sure they will be looking.

They're very similar players, IMO
I thought Hall was a superior prospect to Slayton
Anakim : 8/14/2019 11:04 am : link
He can absolutely fly and destroyed the Combine this year, but he can't stay on the field. That's the main problem. He also has a case of the dropsies, but the main issue is his durability.
I never liked him
allstarjim : 8/14/2019 1:21 pm : link
When I was watching him. I don't think he's a football player, I think he's just a fast athlete. Soft as room temperature butter.
We already drafted Tim Carter one time
Brown Recluse : 8/14/2019 2:03 pm : link
.
This is completely unrelated
Leg of Theismann : 8/14/2019 7:36 pm : link
but speaking of 2019 WR rookies, I think Mecole Hardman is gonna be the goods at the next level. I already thought he was going to be a better pro than collegiate player, but then the fact he was drafted by the Chiefs in that Reid/Mahomes offense? And on top of that Tyreek Hill is indeed coming back? I really think Hardman is going to be a big-time impact player early in his career.

Again, that was pretty off topic, I'm just saying "mark my words" kinda thing.

But yeah, I remember seeing Hall mocked in rounds 3/4, surprised so many are saying they don't even want to give him a chance. Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Joey (was it Joey?) take him for the Giants in the BBI mock draft?
Hall? Pass!
BlueLou'sBack : 8/15/2019 12:06 am : link
I have been hammering several of you that this kid is a bum for a long time now. He doesn't have the will or desire to make it anywhere near the NFL level.

But you keep on dreaming based on some athletic tests. Despite all evidence contrary.
Hard pass
Torrag : 8/15/2019 2:07 am : link
Oft injured and lousy hands.
Pass
Rick in Dallas : 8/15/2019 6:51 am : link
Didnít like him before the draft and this pretty much proves it.
I have the advantage of agreeing in general,
Big Blue '56 : 8/15/2019 7:32 am : link
with DGís mindset, so to me itís easy: If DG is willing to take a safe flier on the guy, Iím in.
He was claimed by the Buccaneers
Anakim : 8/15/2019 7:33 am : link
Don't know if we put a claim in or not

Slayton was the superior prospect unless you were the late Al Davis and only cared about height/weight/speed. Everything about Hallís game is a lack of desire to get hit, improve, etc. He is one of those players that just wants to go out there and collect a paycheck.

Kind of weird to say since he's never collected a paycheck from any game action (neither has Slayton), but okay...
