Definitely puts Dixon on notice. No scholarship. Straight competition. If Dixon wins, then don't be surprised if Townsend suffers an "injury" and is stashed on IR.
one of the worst punters in the league last year. Dixon was 11th in gross and 7th in net punting. 20 punts inside the 20 with only 4 touchbacks. Dont know what fans want but Townsend sucks.
OK but had a lot of favorable bounces and got away with some so-so punting. Point is, stats can be misleading and I'm all for competition I think there is plenty of room to upgrade.
and from a appearances, not good in practice either. Maybe this will light a fire under him. He was top 10 punter last year and is a good holder!
That’s the best point I’ve seen made in this thread yet. Do we really want to screw with Rosas’ holder by switching to a punter who’s not appreciably better than what we have?
I'm not sure that our punter is on the roster at present. Â
Anderson's straight on punts looked good -- but he was having problems angling as was Dixon
Competition!!!
Not so much as a punter.

Agreed, a guy like Feagles is a weapon.

Give me a great directional punter over a guy with a big leg

His punting was a thing of beauty.
Especially nowadays when most offenses can move pretty well. Starting from less than the 10 yd line is a negative point expectation.

What, you didn't like Matt Dodge more than Jeff Feagles?!
