Giants officially cut P Ryan Anderson

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. – The Giants exchanged punters on their roster today when they were awarded Johnny Townsend off waivers from the Oakland Raiders and waived rookie Ryan Anderson.

Does this mean Scott Simonson got a reprieve? Â

My understanding is that Scott Simonson's new contract that he signed in February had not registered for the new league year, for some reason, hence being released for "bookkeeping purposes," only to re-sign tomorrow and get the contract registered.

That makes more sense Â

It would have been surprising to cut Simonson at this stage.
