Agree, but Preston Wilson has a point about common courtesy among athletes - you read about it all the time in many sports:

When Biggio was injured as a result of my slide the first thing I did after the game was call their clubhouse to check on him and talk to him about it. Call it professional courtesy or just human decency. You should at least reach out to show you care. It could be you one day.

I like Preston Wilson but he's off here. Utley DID reach out through Wright AND sent him a bottle of tequila.
Utley reached out thru Wright?

after listening to know nothings Boomer and Gio on WFAN try to tell everyone why Callaway was right.

It is what is wrong with so much of sports "analysis", they try so hard to go against the grain that they make insupportable arguments.

Pretty innocuous stuff. Just seemed like he was just answering a question. He hasn't spoken to him.

They created a new rule due to Utley's slide, btw.

we had some meaningful August baseball.

not throwing in the towel, but if the Mets don't stop the bleeding and go on another prolonged winning streak they're done (captain obvious?)

Too bad Mets aren’t in the AL....almost one third of those teams are gimmes so it is much easier to rattle off 10 in a row there. Just play Orioles, Tigers, Seattle, or KC (blue jays are improving) and you don’t even have to bring your A team and you have 14 in a row.

Callaway: “I bet 85 percent of our decisions go against the analytics. And that is how it’s always going to be, because that is just on paper. It doesn’t take into account the person is a human being, how he performs in these big spots, all these things a manager looks at.”

Mickey literally never looks at those things. Never.

Man Mick is a fucking idiot. Yes, analytics in the specific moment are just a piece of the puzzle. But "does't take into account" shit - yeah it does, it includes EVERY AB, during which his personal situations apply each time...

Now you can't glean that from the numbers, we know that. Which is why YOU LEAVE MATZ IN WHEN HE'S KILLING IT...even when his overall ERA is higher than Lugo's or R bats are coming up or a statistical decline 3rd time through / late game...you know, like you did 2 starts ago with him in his CG (derp)

Seriously, even pro mgrs don't understand how to use stats most times it seems
Teheran
ChaChing : 8/15/2019 8:10 pm : link
can't find the SZ at all. 9 balls out of last 10. Please do not swing 1st pitch at least!!!
Last nights game
KDubbs : 8/15/2019 8:11 pm : link
Is probably going to haunt us for the rest of the year. Finish 3-3 and we’ll be ok. Somehow go 4-2 and everything is good
Rosario on fire
pjcas18 : 8/15/2019 8:15 pm : link
if he maintains, it will solve a problem going forward some people felt existed but really doesn't.

Also, Dilson Herrera 2 HR's today. Mets made the wrong call with Tejada IMO.

wouldn't matter tonight, Panik on base twice.
Ramos: either good for a DP or runs
ChaChing : 8/15/2019 8:18 pm : link
Nothing in between lol
Ramos
pjcas18 : 8/15/2019 8:19 pm : link
KO's Teheran.

Stroman just needs to be ok and get through 6, hopefully not get complacent - Braves O can score in bunches.

Lagares cracks the Mendoza line. May he never look back

Almost exactly since I said I've given up on Lagares...

Rueben looked like he didn't belong out there. Hope that changes.
Stroman

Hasnt really been a good pickup yet. 3 starts he hasnt been very good
Right...
ChaChing : 8/15/2019 8:49 pm : link
0-outs, bases juiced after 2 walks, a passed ball & a glove malfunction. Donaldson up, he with his .400+ vs the Mets

7 feels like not enough already...
Tho that was a quick close to the inning
ChaChing : 8/15/2019 8:50 pm : link
7-1, not bad after 0-outs & bases loaded
Pete...2 RBI single
ChaChing : 8/15/2019 9:21 pm : link
big night even outside the HR. 9-2 in the 5th
Phils and cards losing late
KDubbs : 8/15/2019 9:38 pm : link
We can get some help on top of a win here. Nats play brewers so if we can somehow sweep the royals, we sill gain ground on someone
What a night for big Pete so far. 4-4 with a walk, a hr and 6 rbi's

4 pitch walk from Diaz.
Aaaaaand Diaz, he of 3 HRs in last 4 outings
ChaChing : 8/15/2019 10:55 pm : link
and now a 4 pitch walk, tying run at the plate. At least that's not Mickey's fault, but wtf

Diaz might be the fucking worst closer in a long line of shitty closers. Fuck him

The bullpen
sshin05 : 8/15/2019 10:58 pm : link
just wow, wow. Gagnon is probably not going to KC at this rate.
Mets bullpen is fire
giantsFC : 8/15/2019 11:07 pm : link
Can they just bring back retired out of shape greats.
John Franco, Jesse Orosco, Roger McDowell, Jeff Innis, Turk Wendell could do better in 2019.

Heck where is Colon or RA Dickey?
Gagnon shouldn't have been in for a 2nd inning
moespree : 8/15/2019 11:22 pm : link
And certainly shouldn't have stayed in once there was the slightest sign of trouble. The manager is a dope. And is Riggleman just stealing money? What exactly is he doing? I thought he was hired to prevent Mickey from being a dope.
Not that he's any driving force
ChaChing : 8/15/2019 11:29 pm : link
but it seems Panik was a good get. Solidified the D and is producing a bit on O (i think mostly scoring runs, but yea!). Decent to have in the bot lineup while that continues, esp as a tough K

Better than the black holes we seen...as related really nice to see Lagares bump a bit. Would be huge if he can give us something on O, if not just spd on the bags
On the bright side, Lagares is hot and deserves regular playing time
Ira : 8/16/2019 7:24 am : link
at least until he's not. Rosario and Big Pete each had 5 hits. Alonso was amazing with his 6 rbi's.

10thAve : 8/16/2019 7:32 am : link
Get a sweep here in KC to keep it moving.

Alonso seems like a guy who says to the team, “f*ck this, I got this tonight” and puts the team on his back when it’s needed most, like last night.

During the rain delay the other night I was watching the pre-game and it was an interview with Gelbs and Randazzo with Alonso, it was really interesting. Alonso’s high school said he would never be a college ball player, he was doubted through college and the minors, and you can tell that drives him. He also had some choice words for the scouts who shat on him in the minors about his defense.
Agree
5BowlsSoon : 8/16/2019 1:54 pm : link
Should have won 2 with Matz but with cream puff Royals up next, a sweep is very possible.
