But the starters were in for what, a couple of series.
Do you think we could at least get through preseason before we declare we're doomed because we don't have a pass rush.
I really don’t see this as a messy QB situation. Â
They told us they liked the KC model and that is what we are getting. In fact, it is better than the KC model because Manning’s contract ends and no one’s feelings should be hurt if Eli is not offered a contract to continue. The only mess is what the media is trying to create.
I think he needs the live game action against other competition. Maybe 3 or 4 drives would just about be 1 quarter. Jones should then get in for all 2nd and possibly 3rd quarters. Then Tanney followed by Lauletta over final quarter.

And I think Betcher needs elaborate wrinkled blitzes to get home with DBs, which he presumably won't unveil in preseason.
Seems like Shermer was hell bent on getting Eli out of there and just hand off to Gallman.
Mcintosh has been pretty quiet this preseason?
Maybe, maybe not. Eli didn't look comfortable on the play. And he made an overly-safe choice on the play. The question on Eli is has he become gun-shy?

I think we may already know the answer to that, and the question is can he overcome it as he gains confidence in his protection?
- I think Goodson is at best the 4th LB but it appears at minimum Stupar is the better locker room presence/leader and special teams player. Barring injury I don't see Goodson having a chance at a roster spot. You have Ogletree, Davis and Connelly. If they want a better linebacker than Stupar, I think that position is ripe for a waiver wire pickup.
- Carlock - The guy was a safety in college and is now lining up at edge rusher albeit undersized. It would seem like he would be a better alternative at the money backer role which gives him a better chance of making the roster.

except the owner just came out and said he hopes jones does not play this year and eli is on a year to year basis...
It is an absolute joke if eli is still the quarterback at the end of the year

I agree. Eli might be having a great camp, but it would be a good thing for him to lead a couple to few touchdown drives in the next two weeks.
There might not be a quarterback competition, but preseason or not, fair or not, Everything’s me Jones has a good drive and Eli a three and out, the noise gets louder.
It wouldn’t hurt for him to have an impressive drive or two

Coach here s my question. Eli was asked about that pass. He answered, I saw the guy open but decided to check down. “.
I know it s ridiculous to make anything out if 1 pass in preseason. But the check down was. Staple of his play last year and naturally with the beating he has taken questions arise will he allow plays to develop down field.

I got the impression Shurmur just wanted to get Eli out of there with some low energy playcalls. Maybe Eli factored in match ups and sit, the Jets starting safeties are pretty good, not sure if they played.
Eli was certainly Captain Checkdown early in the season last year (a lot of it by design), but he knows a fast physical WR Latimer is a good option on a go route against cover 0 or 1.

The one thing I've seen from Eli over his career...is that he's rusty in the preseason and needs reps.
I think Eli should play a lot more this pre season than in recent years to try and be ready for game 1. If he gets hurt Jones just starts earlier than expected.
If the Giants don't have anyone on defense that can beat the OL in front of him for a pass rush nothing will matter this year anyway. Just another year of watching the Barkley no playoffs show.
Eli will play more than a few series, certainly would be surprised if he played the entire first quarter.
I would also like to see Jones play more than eight plays
as well, they had that rain delay last week...and then
they went to Tanney.
Thanks.
Give the 1st defense a lot of time as well.
Barkley should not touch the field during pre-season.
Absolutely no reason for him to.

The first Defense is a lot of rookies, so i imagine they are going to get a good amount of work

I don't know... I actually think Jabrill Peppers should be Jabrill Jones.

A pass rusher appears
Rookies all get plenty of snaps
Nobody gets injured

Gun-shy?
Yes.
...in the NFL.
Will be interesting to see how our first string O-Line performs.

The Bears won't be playing any of their starters.
Play 'em or sit 'em?

I hope this new punter pushes Dixon because I’m not impressed at all.
