NFT: Indians at Yankees GDT 8/15

Jints in Carolina : 8/15/2019 3:23 pm

@JackCurryYES
Luis Severino just finished a bullpen session. From my press box perch 400 feet away, it looked as if Severino threw with a lot of intensity. This wasn't some between starts tossing session. He was letting it go. We will see what Severino and Boone say about it in a bit.

Indians lineup not out yet.

Good news.

Hopefully he keeps building and can contribute when ready. Getting a healthy, effective Sevy back would be excellent.
Interesting note from Lindsey Adler
Greg from LI : 8/15/2019 3:45 pm : link
We've been rightly triumphant about how well Luke Voit has played for the Yankees, but Gio Gallegos has quietly been dominant for the Cardinals this year. 55 IP, .727 WHIP, 76 Ks, 1.96 ERA, 2.40 FIP. The rare deal that works out for both teams.

Luis Severino says he expect to face three hitters on Sunday like a sim inning. Then he expects to head to Tampa to throw a sim game and then start rehab games.

Says he thinks he can make first MLB start at as little as 60 pitches and build from there. #Yankees

With Domingo Germn now at 116 IP this year, the #Yankees dont anticipate needing to place a hard innings cap on him. He wont have restrictions in October. He spent more than 3 weeks on the injured list, which already slowed the odometer. @MLB @MLBNetwork

Cleveland just lost 2 out of 3 to a Boston team that was dead as a door nail going into that series. This series isn't going to show or prove anything.
a Boston team the Yankees swept a couple of weeks ago

Yeah, unless we lose the series and all the pessimists come crawling out.

They didn't sweep the Yankees. They won 3 of 4. They also followed that series by losing 7 straight games. The Sox also split 6 games in Fenway against 2 teams with 0.0% chance of making the postseason.

Cleveland is a team in flux. They could come in here flat or they could come in here like this is a playoff series.

IDK.....beating good teams is always a plus, if for no other reason than you dont want to give the other guys a feeling that they can come into your home and kick sand on you.

Cleveland did lose 2/3 from Boston by Boston is still a good team. cleveland is 6-4 in last 10.

True, but it's not going to prove anything about the Yankees. The Yankees have proven who they are over 120 games.

Would you agree there are 4 teams in tier one in the AL....Yanks, Astros, Twinkies, and Indians? I know you can argue, actually only two teams in tier one and two in tier two...either way, when one of those other 3 teams come knocking on your door, I think it is very important you punch them in the mouth and send them off thinking....I hope we dont play these guys in the playoffs, Id rather face the Astros.

Like I previously said, you dont want to give them any feeling of confidence that they can beat NY so Id rather play them instead of the Astros.
I agree with the sentiment

Cleveland is not Baltimore. I am looking forward to this series.
I love the Yankees, but NO ONE would rather play the Astros over
shockeyisthebest8056 : 8/15/2019 4:50 pm : link
them. Carlos freakin' Correa is batting 7th in their order now and Gurriel, one of the hottest AL hitters in the 2nd half, is batting 8th. They have 2 ace pitchers.

I agree, but I didnt expect a Yankees fan to agree. After all, you have a better record with all your injuries. I was just trying to be nice and not antagonistic toward Yankee fans here.

PS. Dont they have 3 ace pitchers now?

They have 3 ace pitchers and what cannot be argued is the best top to bottom 25 in baseball right now.

That said, F them. I want them in the playoffs because this team is beating everyone this year. Tauchman and Urshela are going to hoist this team up baby!
How far away
GruningsOnTheHill : 8/15/2019 7:10 pm : link
is Ed Encarnacin from returning?
Eh, I'm not as high on Greinke as others seem to be.
shockeyisthebest8056 : 8/15/2019 7:14 pm : link
I'll believe it when I see it in the postseason, although the same argument could be made about Cole.

Chad Green can't throw strikes to or get a .240 hitter out. Gotta do better than that.

There are still 27 outs to go, and it looks like the Indians have a scrub pitcher going.

Judge missed a nothing fastball. Gio saw it so quickly he was out in front of it and hammered it.

Gio is totally locked in.
