Anybody watching Kyler Murray

JoeyBigBlue : 8/15/2019 8:56 pm
I don’t want to make quick judgments, but the kid doesn’t look ready for prime time yet. Anyone watching.

He’s had 2 false start penalties and a delay the game penalty. He’s also missed a few throws.
I’m watching the game but
tyrik13 : 8/15/2019 9:01 pm : link
To me he doesn’t look half bad. That o-line is horrendous, pass pro breaking down damn near right away, they’re also getting bullshit calls against them as well and their running game is trash. He’s gonna have to literally carry this team by himself
It's a brutal..

game to watch. Flags all over the place and bad calls.

You know, everytime they talk about Murray, they talk about him knowing the offense perfectly and brag that he's been playing in it since he was 8

Is it really a positive that a NFL team is running an offense that a Pee Wee team did? That's the question to ask of Kingsbury. It isn't like the guy has set the world on fire as a HC anywhere. Maybe it is he's running an offense 8 year olds can comprehend.

That first false start was bullshit, it was definitely neutral zone infraction

...not pretty. But neither is his offensive line.

On the other hand, Sam Darnold lit it up on his first drive of game flicking the ball around like a souped-up Joe Namath!

Very impressive.
The NFL..

Murray has the arm strength

But other than that there were plenty of red flags with them. Definitely shouldn't be starting off the bat. Don't really like his footwork. Stares down receivers too often. And of course with his size...issues regarding throwing to the middle of the field. He also apparently didn't interview/test well.

I think he can make it in this league but far from a sure thing. And not as polished as Russell Wilson was the first time I saw him in the pros

Cardinals team is just poor on both sides of the ball.

I don't know what it is about tonight, but Derek Carr is acting like it's the Super Bowl. He's pumped up and running on the field to congratulate guys

something like 3-8 for 12 yards. He looks just like every other too small QB I have seen (like Flutie). Over throwing guys, and he couldn't run because the DE's and LB's are as fast as he is, and then all the normal rookie stuff.

Then to add to it, Hundley comes in and moves the team.

King hey and Murray. This years ESPN and media darlings. Chip Kelly was an million times the college coach Kingsbury was. Same can be said for Spurrier. Who even knows if Murray can read an NFL D. Not like they run any D at all In the BIG 12. And there were Lots of people posting here the kid was some “generational”’talent that will change the Cards. That team is a mess w an offensive line every bit as bad as what we e seen here w a HC who has a resume that’s paper thin for the
NFL.

Good news for them. They can pick anQB again rd 1. They will be a in top 5 again.

Excellent point. it's the same Offense my Son played in Jr High. Even he commented on it being the same
It would be surprising if Kyler Murray could read an NFL defense

So here's the question - because pretty much everyone outside of Arizona knew Murray was a project and shouldn't have gone #1. How does he compare to Josh Rosen?
They are running RPO WR screens and 4 wide in peewee these days?

Blue21 : 8/16/2019 8:05 am : link
Murray is only a rookie and it's gonna take time. What I question is a rookie coach, in a college system, with a rookie QB, that was a lousey team to begin with last year. But gotta give the kid some time.

I agree with this too. When it was noted he's playing in an offense he's comfortable because he knows it very well I said yeah but what about reading defenses?

Yeah - I have to laugh at the idea that Murray has full mastery of a offense because he's had Kingsbury as a coach in Pee Wee. But that's exactly what ESPN will have you believe!

When they report things like that they really should realize how stupid that sounds.

I only watched the highlights last night, but one thing I noticed is he does a great job avoiding hits. Also the lineman splits are huge! His height won't really be an issue throwing from the pocket, especially with the deep drop.
I’m sure

We will hear the same thing when Jones falls on his face the first time.....especially here at BBI.
If Jones played like Murray last night

You’d hear ESPN analyst calling for Gettleman’s job. Murray was that bad last night.

The best part was there was a corner blitz and instead if hitting the hot route wide open receiver he threw to the opposite side..

mcfarland waxed poetic how it was a good read

That was Manziel's problem. In the pro's, the DE's and LB's are as fast as he was.
It's one thing to run Air Raid concepts,
Section331 : 8/16/2019 12:29 pm : link
but to make it your base offense is going to be interesting to watch. AZ has a terrible OL, and now you're going to give DL wider gaps to exploit? I can't see Murray making it past week 6.
Murray was god-awful
Stan in LA : 8/16/2019 1:31 pm : link
And at his size, he needs to be a LOT better just to be average.
I missed seeing Murray
5BowlsSoon : 8/16/2019 2:07 pm : link
But did see Huntley do quite well. So, I guess that new offense can score points if properly executed, right? Hundley sure made it look easy.

This is not true. He never played for Kingsbury. He played at Allen (a small, 6,500 student HS in the Dallas suburbs) that is a Texas HS powerhouse. His father Kevin was a Texas A&M QB that became a “QB guru” in TX and helped design the spread offenses that are now prevalent all over the country. As a result Kyler is more proficient than most having literally grown up with it.

Time will tell how his career develops. But I can tell you that while playing in a program that had almost 30 D1 commits during his 4 yrs, he was always the best athlete on the field and #2 was nowhere close. If he ends up playing in a more traditional offense, he will be more than fine.
Wow.....
thrunthrublue : 8/16/2019 6:40 pm : link
He looks absolutely tiny, smaller than flutie ever looked.....if he does not have escape pocket presence, the bigs will squash him.
I love how this has played out so far
NINEster : 8/16/2019 11:34 pm : link
with Kyler Murray.

What I found annoying with him is that he was top 15 in fantasy QB this year. WTF has he done to warrant that?

Maybe, just maybe he could be top 15 if he played for KC this year. But the Cardinals?

Unfortunately he can't grow 3 inches and put on 25lbs of muscle and that might be his undoing.
