NFT: Aaron Judge : Injured or slumping ?

averagejoe : 8/16/2019 3:27 pm
His AB's the past month have been dreadful. He is late on everything. He takes too many pitches he should crush and has become very passive. Is he injured or slumping ? Something is definitely wrong .
My guess...
M.S. : 8/16/2019 3:31 pm : link

… his oblique injury is still bothering him.
He is playing hurt
Deejboy : 8/16/2019 3:35 pm : link
Which players should never do cause they get no credit for it. Nobody cares if they are toughing it out cause fans and media only care about results and will go after any player not producing even if they are injured. Judge is maybe playing at maybe 75% but he is doing cause he feels the team needs him and he is better than having to run out Maybin and Tauchman every game.

Sorry, if he is injured, Tauchman and Maybin are better are better for the team right now. Either way he should be moved out or the 2 hole. In fact a reporter asked Boone yesterday if he plans on moving Judge down in the order and he said no.

He is absolutely still hurt. We all knew this would be a season-long issue even when he did get back.

Judge will never admit it or make excuses. That's not his MO. But you can see it in each AB.

He's late on fastballs, he's doing a LOT of guessing. He's watching balls right down the middle. He's not even getting a hold of really hittable pitches. His AB's have been particularly bad lately - he's not himself and it's obvious.

I'm not sure giving him a 10 day IL trip would even help - he's going to need the full offseason to really get this thing right.

Sucks with the way the ball is flying out this year... a healthy Judge probably belts 50 easily. Thankfully, the Yanks lineup is producing so well that it's not killing us... but it's tough to have him in the 2 hole each night and be such an easy out.

I do think he's also in a slump on top of being hurt - even if he's not 100% he can and should be a bit better than this and we saw some signs not TOO long ago that he might be picking up again... so hopefully he can at least get out of this dreadful stretch he's having.
Joe Girardi was on with Mike

earlier this week and he said it takes atleast a month of games to even get back into it, possibly more. Its an injury that keeps everything from clicking.
Another example of how badly run the Yankees are run
Bill2 : 8/16/2019 6:43 pm : link
1) Now we are saddled with a guy who will always be injured

2) Another long term contract on the books for a guy who accepts a bad strike zone without complaint. Lou Pinella must be grimacing while Billy Martin spins in his grave

3) Another bad move by Cash Man:

a) Should have traded him right after his out of character 50 home run year. Could have gotten Wheeler straight up.

b) Should have traded him this year at the deadline for an opener. Then we would have won last night. Instead we lose and Judge looks terrible.

c) Now his trade value is zilch because its obvious he will never hit again even against easy pitches down the middle.

So what does CASH Man do? He lets him play instead of playing an up and comer or inviting Roger Clemens back to hit.

Terrible year to be missing Michael Kay

Easy Bill2. It will be alright. I heard Jeter is willing to send Starlin Castro back for Judge.

BTW, can't we keep Ruocco....

agree on Rucco.

im glad an ex Yankee is willing to help us in out hour of need. And Castro would be a great add. We could sit Torres until he stops making baserunning mistakes.

This was all done to us by Levine Central

Damn, never thought about that, sitting Torres, too. Kill 2 birds with 1 trade! Think of all the wild swings we'd be able to see with Starlin back.

Levine Central in bed with Jints Central.

You’re kidding right? Trade Aaron Judhe after a 50hr rookie year?

Reached base three times and scored twice tonight. Call me crazy, but maybe he just needs time.

All the Levine Central fans can remember is the 50 home runs.

Penetrating analysts know plays right field and we will need that for Dominquez by next year. Has no value to us. Excess

Sometimes throws too quickly to the infielders. Messes the timing up all the time. Infielder barely turns around and he has to reach up to protect himself. Sooner or later we will lose a 2nd baseman or Shortstop. Years developing Estrada right down the drain. Imagine if that happened to Urshela after Ca$H Man spent money getting him?

adamg is the perfect example. Cites tonights box score for Judge and completely ignores the out. Bet the Astros analytical wizards wouldn't miss a glaring insight like that.

Years of brainwashing from Levine Central is what gets you fans like adamg.

Rover is right.

I guess I've been duped

I think the problem starts with ownership
Bill2 : 8/16/2019 10:26 pm : link
Making emotional decisions to keep a 50HR guy when the game is going to advanced bunting from the tp of the order.

This is what gets your franchise to be labeled the laughing stock of the sports world

Just slumping
Carson53 : 8/17/2019 11:24 am : link
even a scout at the games recently said he doesn't look
like he is hurting. I don't see how a guy that big could swing hard, and have the exit velocity he does, if he is hurting. It's not the first time he has had a long drought, at the plate.

In Stanton, you would probably be correct.
Damn, I hope he opts out after next year, I really do!
Now the guy is saying he wants to get 'a lot of bats'
before coming back....someone needs to remind him that
in a couple weeks or so, the minor league season is over! So...so Tampa it is for the G man.
Did I hear it right that Judge hasn't hit a HR to left field all
Jim in Hoboken : 8/18/2019 10:54 am : link
season? That can't be true.

I know he's trying this new approach of waiting longer and flicking the ball to RF, but he's striking out just as much as before, with much less power.

It's one thing if he's still hurt and can't turn on pitches, but it just seems he still has a lot of trouble picking up pitches and in-between a lot. I say let him be aggressive again, to hell with the strikeouts.
