I was driving wife’s car, and she doesn’t have nfl channel on Sirius so I was flipping through trying to find football talk and came across Eli/Jones discussion on mad dog radio.
Caller chimes in saying Jones needs to sit for 2 years because he was fumbling the ball all over the place. Lance Meadow responds it was just two plays and Jamie Dukes interrupts him to say the center exchange was primarily the centers fault because he short armed it and that you can’t put that one on Jones. Then went on to say he had played some center and the guy should go watch the replay as the center was rushing to hit his reach block and short armed the snap.
Thought that was interesting.
2nd fumble, it seemed he felt the pressure and was stepping up, but didn't protect the ball enough. Seemed this play's failure was much more the OL's mistake - but still a teaching moment for DJ
First one was a rook flub if not a miscomm, can't happen moving fwd but fair so long as it doesn't persist

Thanks for posting!
Never mind the fact that he’s stillness getting used to taking snaps under center that he rarely did in college and is taking snaps from a guy he likely doesn’t have a ton of time with. Nope. Needs to be benched for two seasons after that!
The good ones get cut off. I was watching this before the game and a caller had to correct these guys that McAdoo didn't get fired because of the benching and that the two superbowl teams main core from Accorsi were the ones that really won the 2007 and 2011 superbowls (with an awesome draft from 2007 from JR, the last time he was in charge of scouting). But they cut him off and started screaming about two superbowls as GM and McAdoo got fired because of the benching. The national media loves creating their own narratives because they don't deep dive on the specific teams like we do.

Let’s keep this objective and not be given towards hyperbole. 50 million? 49 million perhaps, but I think 5o is an exaggeration.
Either way, Jones has to get that snap even if the center fucked up. The second fumble his eyes were downfield, he could have avoided the rusher or protected the ball better but it was also partly on the o-line letting the guy get through after the chip and the defender made a really good play on the ball.
Someone needs to tell Josh Allen he probably needs to retire
IIRC it was reported that last weeks preseason game vs the Jets was the first time Jones has played with the 1st team OL including practice.

He definitely should sit behind Eli for two more seasons because Eli never fumbles it. Right?
This seems to me the opposite of the prior trend, now DJ can do no wrong? Kid dropped a snap, BFD. Let’s not blame everyone else.

It's quite common for fans to defend their players no matter what.
However, we certainly should investigate the whole play vs assuming if we want good discussion.
Back in Coughlin's\Gilbride's offense it was quite common for a wr to run an incorrect route considering that offense relied on both the qb and wr to correctly read not only the type of coverage the defense was in but also what coverage techniques they were using. Not to mention the defense knew this and tried to not only fool the qb, but also fool the wr.
It's interesting because sometimes we don't study the play and assume we know what happened, yet over and over again we are shown there are more dimensions that we're not b seeing. Yet, also at times the simple answer is correct
Teaching moments for DJ.
Smart, accurate, athletic, doesn't mentally fall apart after a mistake - All very important attributes of a successful NFL QB.
But don't let the facts get in the way of a good argument. Holy hell.
That said, Jones wasn't taking snaps from under center in college. So its new to him... Just saying.
But hey, this is the time to have these kinds of mistakes, and as somebody said above, these are teaching moments. Not a big deal.
