If only they could stay as healthy as the Yanks...
I don’t think you need to take too much joy in someone being hurt. The Sox were not going anywhere this year regardless. And quite frankly, Sale was a big part of the reason why.
He’s still good enough that he’s pitched well at times, but nowhere near his usual level.
For a lot of guys, I think there’s definitely a correlation between pitching a ton of innings through the playoffs and arm troubles the following season.
That's a bummer. Feel bad for DRob. Guess Cash made the right choice Britton over Robertson
Sale - not so much... hope it is not serious, but he has been fighting something since last summer.
Mike Axisa died on that hill with Robertson. He didn't want Britton and wanted that deal to go to Robertson.
Love Mike Axisa and I was thinking of him as the season went on and then when this happened. Loved DRob, but although Zack maybe has not been the lights out guy we hoped for(he's pretty close if a touch shaky), he was the better option looking forward.

Sale hasn't been Sale since the first part of 2018. This is the first year where he now has a higher percentage of sliders thrown than fastballs. He is obviously trying to make up for losing some velocity. His K/9 is still one of the best and excellent but he is having to throw a lot more sliders to get Ks. Before it was fastball setting up the slider. Now it is the slider early in the count and late in the count. That takes a toll on an already sketchy arm.
This is why the Yankees didn't want to give Corbin a 6 year deal since he throws the second most sliders in baseball to Kershaw. And why they will give Cole a huge deal cause he is still 50% fastballs. It's a myth the Yankees prefer pitchers to throw offspeed pitches. They only believe that when the pitcher has a mediocre fastball and velocity like Sonny Gray.

Isn't this at least 3 years in a row that he is being put on the IL in either August or September?
