NGT: Eagles sign Army OT Brett Toth. Contract question?

Giant16 : 8/18/2019 9:57 am
Anyone follow or know additional details on the Eagles signing of Toth. 2018 WP graduate and first Army player to play in the Senior Bowl. In order to keep him will he have to be on Active roster or sign to the Practice Squad or is there a way for an exemption to allow him time to ramp up?

He certainly has to build up and learn a lot but I think he is a strong yet raw talent. Thought I remember Giants showing interest and wish they could have gotten him. TIA.

Is to keep them as part of your 53.

Once you cut a guy, even with the intention of adding to the PS another team can clam them for their 53
The army can place him in reserve status and he can serve his time

During the off-season. That’s what the Navy did with the Admiral!

Sorry misread. To be protected he must be on a 53 man roster

I believe the preferential treatment for athletes was done away with.

I'm happy Toth has a shot at the NFL, but it will be tough rooting for him in a Eagle uniform.

Army's OL was awesome last year. It was the stregth of their team as they dominated TOP and played keep-away from the opposition.
