Thairo Estrada had to move to right field yesterday when Brett Gardner was ejected. Today he’s on the injured list with a hamstring strain. Tyler Wade on his way up from AAA.
I just looked the lineup
section125 : 8/18/2019 11:03 am : link
up on twitter. Crazy - Thairo another injury to IL. Kid played 9 innings and tweaked a hammy. I think they better break out the Holy Water or bring in a shaman with a medical background.

And, somebody put Gardy in the clubhouse between innings!
He tweaked it running to first
adamg : 8/18/2019 11:04 am : link
Not in the outfield. Just to be clear.
for the record, Gardy did not cause someone to get hurt
Jints in Carolina : 8/18/2019 11:07 am : link
Estrada had already tweaked it running to first.

Come on jints, Gardy is the black plague of the AL. He should be blamed. Banging the bat probably caused him to jump.
In case you are wondering what Gardner had done to the dugout roof

I feel like a side effect of too wide a zone is hitters adjust and start chasing more. Not that that excuses the swing. But, our hitters are in a really shitty spot.
More proof
BigBlueShock : 8/18/2019 1:33 pm : link
That umps ARE NOT held accountable. All we here from Torre and the umpire union is that they review every single game with umps. Yeah....bullshit. After last nights pathetic performance (to go along with the entire season) they pick up right where they left off. And on top of that, some of the worst offenders are regularly rewarded with postseason assignments. It’s time to hold them accountable. If the players have to face the media and answer questions after a tough game, why shouldn’t these imbeciles? They just head back to the locker room after the game and enjoy a few beverages before heading off to have a good nights sleep.

It’s infuriating.

Agree. Torre is full of crap with that. I dont like him in this role. And you are right with the umps not having to face the media. When Gardner was thrown out for doing nothing a few games back the ump "didn't make himself available to the media." I feel like officiating has always been suspect but it is worse now. And they are way to thin skinned and looking to eject people.

It's beyond rediculous at this point. I foolishly hoped it would get better as the season wore on but Judge continues to get royally screwed.

I hate the umps not being held accountable for their poor performances and having their own strike zones where they expect players to adjust to them instead of them adjusting to different players.

There's no way the same low pitch can be a strike to every player regardless of their height. It's mind boggling how they expect teams and fans to just accept this bullshit.

Paul made a comment an inning or two ago about how he and his teammates knew George would be on the phone the next day if the umpires had a particularly atrocious game. And all I could think after hearing Paul say that was you just know Hal probably won't do that.

There will meetings in the league office tomorrow and I'm sure there will be some video to show what looked like bias today. They will still have to be careful so as to not cause the umps to look for excuses to squeeze them later this year.

But they will need to look real hard at CC. Yes his 1st game back, but I don't know what that was in the 2nd inning. Great 1st inning, good 3rd and what looked like knee pain in the 2nd.

6-2 homestand is excellent. Splitting with the red hot Indians was good in a bad starting pitching rotation situation that was unfortunate.
6-2 on the homestand
Eman11 : 8/18/2019 5:04 pm : link
I'll take it especially considering the two losses came at the hands of the tail end of the rotation to a pretty darn good team in the Indians.

Yanks have been insanely good at home this year and I'm all for going for home field. Not at the expense of overusing the pitching but keeping the team playing exactly as they have this year. Keep the foot on the gas and no coasting to the finish line.

The umps are making it really hard
NYerInMA : 8/18/2019 5:07 pm : link
for me to watch these games. I love the Yankees and baseball and to continually see the umps screw things up with bad call after bad call really ruins the fun for me. The first pitch to Judge at the ankles that was called a strike in the 1st was ridiculous and set the tone for the whole game for me. MLB really doesn't seem interested in holding the umps accountable for the sh*tty job that they're doing and it drives me nuts.
