now that Josh Gordon has been reinstated. I would take a look at the guy. He has size, good hands and can be a help while we are waiting on Tate to be cleared. WR Inman released - ( New Window )
that gets cut somewhere..>Smith doesnt play to his size, PP is a what you see is what you get type that historically has not contributed on specials. Hilliman the jury is still out for me.
but at this stage, when the rosters are still 90, it's not like you're going to find a gem on someone else's scrap heap. These cuts were, like, the 91st-best guys on the teams that just let them go. Laquan Treadwell, Dontrelle Inman... Are the Pats' and Vikes' cuts are really good enough to bring in? They don't know the offense, they failed at their last team. Which Giants are they better than? How would they help the team more than the guys who are in camp now? I'd rather have T.J. Jones than either of those guys, and it's not close. Would you cut Reggie White Jr. to bring either of those guys in? Da'Mari Scott?
We're talking about physical measurables, I guess. They're big. They're lousy, but yes, they're big. I don't see the point.
The Giants' receiver corps shouldn't be that bad, even without Golden Tate for the first four games. Evan Engram and Saquon Barkley also are weapons in the passing game. How would somebody else's 12th-best WR help?
Latimer, Shepard, Jones, Fowler, Shepard are all experienced WR.
All JAGs playing against 2nd and 3rd stringers right now.
And obviously a guy the Patriots released has to be much more than a JAG, right? I mean, New England hasnt proven to be much in the player evaluation field.

Never said Inman was better and I have no idea. Our WR Corps needs to get better, I’m sure DG will look at every avenue to upgrade the position.
He'd be a fine add but i doubt he'd change anything Â
Ask yourself that question. The answer is at the top of the depth chart not at the bottom. Our group is very solid overall but we lack that true number 1. That player doesn't need to be an Odell Beckham number 1 but rather a number 1 that defenses take notice and adjust for. Since Inman isn't that guy he is really no better than what we have.

This is a good point.
Any released WR is going to be fighting with Reggie White and the last spot in the position group. With tate suspended, the Giants will likely emphasize Barkley and Engram a little more in the passing game the first four games.
Contributing to his release is that BB found another UDFA gem ... Â

Well said, and our 3-6 type guys are all good special teams contributors too.
I ve seen about 5 different posts the past month Â
Receivers other teams have cut that maybe the Giants should look at.
Maybe it s the idea that they traded Beckham so they must need help there.
I believe the receivers will be a strength of this team, plus they have size which the Giants have not had for years. Eli likes bigger receivers which is the reason he seems to be developing a good rhythm with Latimer and Fowler.
TJ Jones probably was our best add from another team Â

I'm far more encouraged about the WR's from what we've seen and read about them compared to a month ago. Latimer, Fowler, and TJ Jones all look like they will contribute in some capacity. Are any of them #1 or #2 WR's? No, but they should be solid #3-4 types that all bring something different to the passing game.
Before camp I was ready to move on from Latimer but he has impressed me this preseason. He could have a much bigger role in this offense than expected.
Darius Slayton impressed the coaches during OTA's and now that he's back on the field hopefully he can continue to improve and at least serve as a deep threat this season.
Alonzo Russell has great size and he's formed nice chemistry with Daniel Jones in practice. If he can continue to impress on special teams he might beat out Russell Shepard for a roster spot.
No idea but, one thing we lack is experience. Inman has experience and can play. He can play specials as well. Always keep an eye on possible talent.

Inman is a jag too.

Fowler is only 6'1" which isn't a huge target. What they did do is upgrade the bottom half of the group to those players with experience.

I guess but they are bigger than Beckham and Shepherd. Also Fowler is a big body, at least according to some of Giants podcasts I listen to
