that I doubt we will see in the preseason is how he handles cold, windy and/or rainy conditions.
I think he's checked all the boxes (using the Coach's term) so far and has looked excellent. I wonder if the Meadowlands winds will cause him any problems.
Maybe we should build a dome. :)
I'm sure he will get some throws outside in the practice field but I hope he also gets a legitimate amount of reps in real games as well.
Yes, good mechanics and a nice ball should help
They only ran one play action pass from Jones week 1. Week 2 everything was in shotgun. That's not gonna cut it against real NFL defenses.
Too predictable, time to start mixing it up, I know he can do it.

Yep. I've yet to see him throw a duck.

That is incorrect. The first pass play from under center in week 2 was when the OL was subbed out. The first play of the series, DJ threw incomplete.
But the point is that the quick strikes from the shotgun are good to build rhythm and confidence, but Shurmur needs to turn the screw and complicate the plays. Runs some play action, straight drop-back, roll-outs, etc.
When the season starts, DJ won't get any reps with the 1's. Eli will get all the snaps as he prepares for each week's game. The remaining weeks of preseason is DJ's time to dive into the deep end of the pool.

I've been at some miserable games in the new stadium, the wind doesn't seem any better than the old one. That open louver design really lets in a lot of cold air
Weather in the NE is milder nowadays, warmer snowier winters and not blazing hot summers (although this year was an exception). One factor that allows noodle arm man boobs Brady to thrive in NE. Likely related to changes in the Gulf sream.

Why do you keep distorting facts to make a point? A couple weeks ago you said the Giants were in shotgun 90% of the time in the first half of last season, which was incorrect.
Now you are misrepresenting how many times Jones was under center. He was under center on at least one of the pass plays in the second game. If you really are tracking such things to make a point - you should get that right.
And then you wonder why people mock the "research" bullshit. It is because none of your conclusions can be trusted.

For him to make his next progression. Is they need to get him out of shotgun, and start getting him under center, so they can incorporate play action.

👍
I am 100% confident Shurmur has told him "Do not run in the pre season. Do not risk it. Go through your progressions and check down/throw it away."
