I’m thinking there are 7 WR slots open including Tate who won’t count until week 5 ... White and Wesley might make the practice squad, leaving 8 guys for 6 spots ... My favs are S Shepard, Latimer, Jones, Slayton, Russell and Fowler ...leaving R Shepard and Golden out ... what say you?
I would prefer to see Alonzo Russell beat out Russell Shepard but I think Russell Shepard gets the final spot because of his special teams ability.
Alonzo Russell looked excellent on special teams also so hopefully he keeps it up and wins the roster spot over Shepard.
I expect Reggie White Jr. and Alex Wesley to end up on the practice squad.
* 5 of those 6.....
He'll never play, so whats the point of carrying 3 qb's?
I have wrestled with this and am just happy that there is such great competition.
Really need to see Slayton in-game action but I am inclined to agree with your final roster solution.
I also agree that there is no need for a third qb taking up a roster spot
I kind of wonder about a pure FB type like Penny taking up a slot also
My final question is who will be the TEs on the final roster. Simonson just doesn't do it for me.
I think the game has evolved to the point that pure blocking types like Simonson and Penny are pretty much extinct.
We need offensive weapons and we need to create matchup nightmares. Neither Penny nor Simonson represents anything to concern themselves about for DCs
These are my sentiments exactly. I mean, I too appreciate Zo’s effort and all but is he a better receiver than TJ or Russell Shepherd? I haven’t seen it.
You could be right, but Shurmur called Russell out after the Jets game, pointing out how often he was open. I've never seen a HC do that before. That, in addition to how well he's played on ST's, tells me he gets the final WR spot.

Don't more than half of the teams in the league carry 3 QB's?
Golden, White and Wesley won't make the cut but could be in the mix for the PS.
Alonzo Russell has more upside and is a more powerful and larger player -- he is a very good special teamer -- his WR ability is not as consistent as one would like
Not an easy choice, but I think I'd drop Alonzo.

Do the right thing like any other franchise would do and carry TWO QB's. Not a 3rd clip holder that costs a WR or CB a roster spot. Tanny, yes, I know the guys like him, just eats up a roster spot.

Yes, most do.

Russell make go to PS, but some team will most likely grab him with his size. I rather see him make the team as well.
Guys like Shepard, Latimer and Fowler are nothing special, all have been JAGS in their careers.
Two muffs on punt returns in two weeks for Jones.
Having said that - R Shepard was the guy Shurmur had lead the team following his post-game 2 locker room speech, so I'm sure he's got Shurmur's attention too.
I too think we are going to face a difficult cut-down @ WR, barring injuries. Like many other things, this will be controversial on BBI, imo.

Not counting Tate obviously as they get a roster exception for him, IMO Shepard, Latimer, Fowler, Slayton, and TJ Jones are locks. That leaves one roster spot for Russell Shepard, Alonzo Russell, and Reggie White Jr.

All may be JAGS, but they are also what the Giants are looking for in WR's. They want WR's who are dependable, willing blockers, and can read defenses in the same way as the QB. The ability to take a slant pass the distance is less important than being able to find a hole at least 8 yards down the field on 3rd and 7 and the QB knowing where you will be.

Does an end of the roster WR really have more value than being able to carry a backup into next season who already has 2 years of experience in the system? I don't think so.
Size/speed combo - dime a dozen in NFL
Decent camp, but not lighting it up.
AW is a better talent.
I would like both on PS, but not with 7 on roster + GT.
I think he sticks if he keeps up what we saw out of him vs the Bears
I do like Alonzo Russell's size and speed. But I thought they were talking R Shepard as possible Special Teams captain..
