Saturday: Even though 'close' in H1, at 2-1 for MC, it was a no contest, the Spurs playing just dreadfully, ball in their defensive third 70% of the time, no creativity from them, glimmers of runs aborted by terribly inaccurate passing, a shit show. Tott's goal from Lamela on an Ederson mistake, way off his line and Lamela had an opening from atop the 18.

DeBruyne on fire with his crosses from the right, first goal a header by Sterling, just beautifully placed and timed by both, second, a scorcher along the turf midway between the 18 and the touchline, that Agüero flicked in, Frenchie no chance. Spurs' back line leaving tons of space, slow in reaction, MC just way kicker to the ball all over the pitch. It was a mis-match.

More of the same to open H2, went to the track for a run and wasn't even going to bother watching the last 40 minutes. What the hell, I'll watch the rest of the match.

WOW. It wasn't that Spurs were playing so much better as maybe MC let up a little, every once in a while Spurs would get a counter going, but gave it away in MF, repeatedly.

Lucas is subbed in late, maybe 85th, 14 seconds later he heads one in on a CK (Eriksen?); Lucas is not a big guy, somehow found space in the box.

Extra time: MC is pressing in its attacking third, Spurs just chasing, seems inevitable, then, BOOM: Jesus, subbed in for Agüero, who had a bit of an altercation with Pep as he came off (Pep upset because Kun not at far post on Lucas header, or insufficient hustle??), rips one off a deflected ball off a DeBruyne CK and into goal.

Game Over. But, wait. VAR.....NO GOAL. On the CK, the ball deflects off forearm/wrist (?) of Gundogan (?), clearly not deliberate, but new FIFA rule: any role of the hands by attacking team that results in a goal is nullified. Michael Oliver allows the clock to continue way beyond the 4 minutes stoppage time, to nearly 6, before game over.

2-2
