Whoa, Baker Mayfield mouthing off...
M.S. : 8/20/2019 11:20 am : link

...just like his newly acquired WR. Why on earth would he want to piss on Daniel Jones is way beyond my comprehension!?!

Here's a novel idea for Baker Mayfield:

Why not show the NFL you can lead the Browns back to the playoffs rather than disrespecting other NFL players.

Brief moment of optimism as Sam Beal (hamstring) stretched with the team but right to the side with the trainers after. Antonio Hamilton (groin) also on the side. Don’t see Golden Tate (concussion), Michael Thomas (NLFPA duties, presumably) and George Asafo-Adjei (concussion).

Because that's what is going to happen with Cleveland.

Welcome to Cleveland, where the Browns are true contenders

For the NFL’s centenary, a historically hexed franchise and an agonizingly vexed fan base are eagerly anticipating a resurrection of Biblical proportions. Thanks to some bold moves and brash person...

Yes he is. A little google search. 2 QBs with losing records in College:
1. Patrick Mahomes
2. Jared Goff

Both Recent Top 10 Picks. Yet douchebag Ranaan and Baker act like this hasn't happened since John Elway and QBs can't win in the NFL. What a bunch of FUCKING CLOWNS!
Looking at the big picture: What bullshit!

So, I didn't know much about DJ before the draft, and I still don't know as much as most of you. That said, after I saw what Raanan posted I looked up DJ's stats and Dukes records.

So, as a redshirt freshman, the team only won 4 games, but Jones had a pretty good season, statistically. The next (and final) two seasons, he starts, Duke has winning records both seasons and Jones put up very nice stats. With, from all accounts, little in the way of a supporting cast. In a tough (the toughest?) conference.

WTF, then? How is he a losing college QB if his team won two of the three seasons he started and had good numbers?
Daniel Jones Duke by the numbers - ( New Window )

More to the point, this "winning QBs" thing seems like a case of correlation rather than causation. The strongest NCAA programs generally get the top recruits, so there's a self-reinforcing cycle of winning teams getting good QBs, who help the teams continue to win.

Meanwhile, as noted above, only one QB who has won an FBS championship in the title-game era has done much of anything in the NFL.

That may be the way they go, but to outright cut him? That's simply unacceptable. And look, I have no idea how good Beal can be or not. I knew nothing about him when we took in the Supp. Draft, but you don't cut a guy you invested a third rounder in.
Baker Mayfield's logic.

1) Jones lost more games than he won in college.
2) Therefore, he is a loser.

This was my concern yesterday, when I made the similar comment about their dilemma in what to do with him. He hasn't played in pre-season the last two years. There has to be a point where he shows what he can do in a game against live comp. I suppose they could keep him on the 53, but he can't stay healthy and he won't get in quality practice time during the season. I don't think they'll cut him after investing a 3rd round pick and can't expose him to waivets or the PS either.

I think there's too much of an assumption that Mayfield's "winner" comments were directly tied to his "Couldn't believe the Giants took Jones" comment. It may not have been. They weren't part of the same question, and I feel like he was mostly referring to how some good QBs fall through the cracks because of over-analysis despite showing the less-quantifiable traits of being a winner.

I think he's basically referring to himself there, and how he was a walk-on and doubted all of his career with the notable exception of the Browns at draft time.

That makes the beats essentially a bunch of trolls. They don't have to "report" anything useful or insightful...they just have to print what's most likely to get a response (and the more emotional the response, the better).
