In fact, it was a terrible business move. The Giants brass gave you a big contract and have to eat a considerable amount of dead money on this years cap by trading you away.
They were willing to do that just to be rid of you. So you are right Odell, it was personal. Maybe if you focused more on being a football player you might still be here.
This may be what dep is referring to. He's a very strange guy Â
“In a situation like his, Beckham says, a star player will often get a chance to discuss his preferred trade destinations. But he was never asked. In fact, he claims to know that the Giants received better offers and still chose to send him to Cleveland, out of spite, hoping to stain his career with the enduring stigma that comes with playing for the Browns.” Link - ( New Window )
"This wasn't no business move," Beckham told Ben Baskin of Sports Illustrated. "This was personal. They thought they'd send me here to die."

Please Odell, tell us what team offered something better and exactly what the offer was.
What a fucking clown!! Every comment he makes, makes DG look smarter and smarter for trading his ass.
I freely admit I have a mild, passing interest in what Beckham says, no denial. The extent of my information on his comings and goings are limited to BBI.
I certainly don't seek out news, and definitely don't have enough emotional investment to think he's a raging prick.
He's an entertaining character who used to play for the team, got traded for good value, and is a funny foil.

Oddly enough, earlier the article talks about OBJ meeting Landry after the latter was traded to Cleveland and they talked about dreaming to play together. So, why would he have that degree of bitterness if the trade facilitate dhis dreams?
RE: I dont know what force makes people care so much Â
Got into a fist fight at the 50 yard line - would anyone wanna stop it? Or watch til one gets knocked the fuck out?
Those two fighting would be more of a slap and tickle. Baseball players would brawl more meaningfully than those two.
I wonder what Dorsey thinks of his team’s complete lack of focus this summer? He was handed a fuckload of can’t miss high draft picks by his predecessor and has turned it into maybe a 2 year window before their cap bites them... and their players don’t seem at all interested in focusing on themselves and how they can help their own team finally win a playoff game in over 20 years.
to the city and people of Cleveland. It is clear he sees being traded there as a punishment and can't get past that. If I were a fan of the Browns I think I would be more concerned that he sees our city, town and team as a death sentence.

yeah ... how else can you read "hoping to stain his career with the enduring stigma that comes with playing for the Browns"?
The house organ grinders are back playing that house song Â
Is anyone at all curious as to why several of the guys traded are claiming they were screwed or lied to and continue to be vexed about it? Isn't that a little unusual? Or are you all just listening to the house siren song that these people were all malcontents who needed to be dumped so the unicorns and rainbows would come out.
Beckham has a problem with everything, and people like that tend to not realize the common variable in equations is them.
Too bad it turned out this way. After his rookie year there was a bunch of chatter about him getting advice from Lebron and MJ on how handle success -- that clearly didn't work.
I'm surprised Coughlin didn't nip it in the bud, he was typically pretty good with that type of player.

I'd agree with him. But they're not. Their arrow was pointing up when last season ended in a big way. At this point, he's just being a baby. No way around it.
I'm guessing this is in reference to his latest quote...
"This wasn't no business move, it was personal. They thought they'd send me here to die."
Why can't his mouth do the same?

I think he is half right - it was both personal (see Lil Wayne interview) and business, get Peppers to replace LC plus some picks...

He made it that way.
But he'll never take responsibility - which is why he'll put himself above every team. The Browns included.
Maybe he'll finally get to LA like Moss did after a few more injury-filled seasons

They did.
And in all likelihood, it will work.
You say you don't care, but you care.

You say you don't care, but you care.
Or is he the ex-girlfriend that continues to stalk the boyfriend?
I'm not too surprised the onus has been put on the fans in that take.
That Odell has officially realized that Cleveland is not New York.
Good God, already...
You say you don't care, but you care.
Well, you're here too, aren't you?

Well in this case, if you're the boyfriend, do you feel stalked by Beckham?
Of course. But, somehow that POV is more "rational" or something.
DG doesn't get along with jackasses. That's a +1 for me.

Some irony here.

It's a long-term, reality drama, following a organization over years.
So yes, as part of following the part of the 'drama' of the Giants, we are paying attention to Odell Beckham.
Because it is an entertainment business, and his reactions to being traded to Cleveland are seriously fucking entertaining.
And still Giants fans feed into it, just as he is hoping they will.
Nice

+1 This was my first thought as well.
This is actually a great point.
