This is not what I said....just so we’re clear. I also said I was surprised I got drafted number one. Then was talking about the flaws in evaluating QB’s. Where I brought up winning being important. Reporters and media will do anything to come up with a click bait story. Heard nothing but good things and wish nothing but the best for Daniel. |
The Browns are a shit show and an explosion waiting to happen!
I'd say maybe 75% of the world who cares about the NFL draft was surprised he went #6, so he's not wrong about that little piece even if it's bad form to say so.
now the reasons and W/L being a major part of eval I don't agree with, but that piece no argument.

I was pretty upset that Jones was drafted #6 as well...even though a bad feeling in my gut told me that he would be as we approached #6 pick. With that being said, he's proven that he can be a gamer, and I've grown to really like him as our QB. Mayfield is a bit of a tool...I think we don't need this incident to confirm that.
Then next, his comments about teams over thinking it was in response to a new question from the interviewer. It wasn't about Jones. The interviewer asked him (yes, as a result of the Jones comment) a general question about QB evaluation, and Mayfield made comments agnostic of Daniel Jones about how teams over think it.
In that sense, I suppose it's possible the comments were taken out of context. And there really is no logical reason to for Mayfield to care at all about Jones.
But still, just shut up.
And I don't care what fans do. Baker is not a fan, he's a professional. Players shouldn't be criticizing other players. Its unprofessional, makes him look stupid, and creates the sort of attention and distractions that no team needs.

Shut up, you sexy bald headed fool!
We play them regular season next year.
Bullseye
As long as he doesn’t switch to the infamous # 17..:)
the circus comes to town next year

The same can be said of Barkley as well.

He's infinitely better than Manziel without the drug problem. Mayfield is a dick, but he shouldn't be compared to Manziel.
I completely understand DG's concern with getting high character players for the Giants. He's proving that you can find both character and talent in individual players.
Traded a great offensive lineman and defensive player for a diva WR that they arguably didn't need.
Signed Kareem Hunt when they had Chubb/Johnson.
Everyone is talking about what they have added but not neccesarily the affects of what they lost.
And let’s hope he has a winning record and brings the franchise back to prominence. That’s what he’s here for, not to be a lunch pail guy.

It doesn't matter if he's right or wrong. You don't throw shade at a player on another team. If you don't want to say something good about the other guy you just give some evasive remark like "I'm sure the Giants are satisfied with their pick." Then, move on. Why in hell he's making a comment about a Giants' player is beyond me.

That’s it in a nutshell
I hope these Eli comparisons end soon. He s not Eli, he s Daniel Jones.
I m hoping he has a bit more fire than Eli.
That was me. PFT speculated that Mayfield was unaware that his comments about Jones would be used in the article and probably thought they were off the record. From these new remarks I think PFT's report has merit.
I hope Mayfield has learned from this.
Every single one of us would sign for Jones having the same success as Eli has had. Eli not being overly emotional likely helped him in NY. "Fire" doesn't win you football games.
That Mayfield is dumb enough to throw dogs at NY is kind of sad. I never thought OBJ was a bad guy. But it’s apparent he’s an insecure asshole who just can’t STFU and on top of that needs his QB to constantly massage his ego.
Yep, like Phil Simms, agree with you 100%

You guys are ridiculous sometimes. This was not meant as a knock against Eli, you have no idea how big a fan I have been of his and continue to be, I just prefer the Type if fire Phil Simms used to show, what s wrong with that?
Really some of the sensitivity here towards Eli makes it difficult to even have an objective discussion where he is concerned. No one can deny he s been a great Giant and leader. You re correct Giants would be blessed if Jones becomes a clone of Eli,
They d also be blessed if he became Phil Simms like
Simms was pushed to the brink by Parcells to get him fired up, but the vast majority of the time, Simms was a calming force. It's like people forget Eli getting fired up in big games or celebrating after throwing crucial TD passes.
Simms himself has said that he let Parcells get him too worked up, but learning from that helped him channel his emotions better for the rest of his career.
No one’s getting worked up per se. No one really cares, also per se. Some of us, however, are sort of incredulous that another player would say something like that about a fellow player. Media and fans? Sure, but they’re not part of a fraternity. That’s the difference. And yes, in the scheme of things this means squat

Can you still see Parcells mouth the words, “sit the fuck down?”

S, what you're saying is that "fire" is basically an irrelevant quality.
Mayfield cultivates this tough guy/anti-hero image. Talking shit on the field throughout his college career. Staring down Hue Jackson last season. His comments on Duke Johnson not too long ago. And by and large people/media eat it up. "Thats just Baker." "He keeps it a-hunnit." But the first time in his pro career he maybe steps out a bit too far, ruffles some feathers and gets some blowback, its "woah woah woah, I didnt say that." Yes you did. Just own it. Cuz if you dont it undermines all the other stuff and makes you look a bit like a bitch.
And him saying he didn't mean for anyone to hear it (thought he said it off the record?) doesn't excuse anything. What a putz. Like it's fine talking shit behind someone's back as long as they don't hear it. Can you imagine what comes out of this asshole's mouth in private?
