I’m amazed with so many hitters out all year how well our offense is still doing (Cespedes, McNeil, Smith, Nimmo, Lowrie, Cano). Mets are second in wRC+ only to the Dodgers in the NL. That’s pretty incredible. Getting Davis back was a huge boost. Nimmo, McNeil, and Lowrie seem to be returning shortly. Our pitching is third in the league in ERA, FIP, and WAR. A top 3 pitching staff and top 3 offense can do massive damage in a postseason. Let’s keep winning. LFGM!
Oswalt most likely, his era is under 1 in the second half. 4 of those 6 second half starts he's given up 0 runs, and the other two starts he gave up 1 run and 2 runs (oddly all 3 runs solo homers). But basically he's had a really good month.
I think with pitcher due up 4th he didn't want to risk long man.

since Callaway said he was gonna start pitching him in big situations he's brought him in earlier than he used to.

Odd call to use 2nd best reliever on 8 + 9 hitters though. Would you rather try to throw Brach 2 innings 7th/8th against top of lineup or Familia/Lugo?

Would you want to risk PH for a reliever you anticipated giving you 2 innings and now you have to give someone Sewald an inning on back to back days?

They'd have still had Diaz, Familia, Lugo, Avilan available for 6, 7, 8, 9 if the game is close no? I think I'd have thrown brach against bottom of the order and then Familia against the top of the order, hoping to get 2 out of him if he pitched well in the 6th.
maybe his longest outing of the year (duration)

Final line for St. Lucie Mets starter Thomas Szapucki:
6 IP, 5 H, ER, BB, 3 K, 77 pitches/50 strikes
He was up to 94 mph, video by @ed880
2.42 ERA on the season now.
Justin Wilson has a 1.06 ERA in 17 innings since returning from the IL.
agree, but at some point they will need Diaz.
if he's not put in save situations then when do you use him? Mop up?
Baseball is hard.
You see this field too when he ranges over to field balls that the 2B gobbles up.
He’s just got to let the game come to him sometimes. He’ll learn. He’s doing great.
Now someone walk it off.
only 18 pitches.
I doubt they do it though.
no idea why Diaz can't pitch. I'd rather lose with Diaz than a LOOGY pitching to righties
