NFT: NYR now have their own Chris Mara, plus

Jay in Toronto : 8/21/2019 7:51 pm
In filling out their organizational structure, the Rangers in part have raided Columbus.

From Columbus, they have hired:

1. Chris Morehouse has as the team’s new Head of Amateur Scouting in North America.

2. Marshall Davidson as amateur scout.

Chris (no, not Snee, that would be double-dipping) is John Davidson's son-in-law.

Marshall is John Davidson's brother.
I’m ok with the JD lineage

...making its way into our organization.
No problem

As long as they are the most qualified of possibilities.
I grew up

across the street from the Davidson's and went to school with his daughters. That family lives and breathes Hockey, so I'm pretty sure you can judge JD's judgement on anything hockey related.
I'd say it's different b/c he's not owner but yeah, interesting.

Not a huge fan nepotism.
It's scouting
Davisian : 8/21/2019 8:29 pm : link
It's less about the nepotism and more about JD bringing in people who see the game/players the way he see's them who happen to be related.

Obviously, I hope you are bang-on.
Whereas Mara’s don’t know much about football

The Davidson’s know a shit load about hockey and don’t come from billionaire lineage which (May, not sure) impact work ethic and sense of entitlement.

And of course the lineage only holds if JD himself does a great job here. It’s not like the others guys are related to Dolan.

The comparison misses. Now go get Lemieux and DeAngelo to stop fucking around and sign their bridge deals to next offseason.

I'd be most persuaded by analysts and CBJ fans decrying the loss of these key cogs in the organization, although the fact that neither was let go when JD left is a good sign.

Fair, but I don’t know many CBJ fans. Will be interesting to see if they get strong support this year after losing so many key guys (their D is still solid however)

Someone's 2 cents

Issue is not a slam dunk.

Good hires?? - ( New Window )

Davidson was the inspiration for the song "Double Vision" from 1978's album Double Vision by Foreigner. Members of the band who were Rangers fans were watching a Stanley Cup Playoff game between Davidson's New York Rangers and the Buffalo Sabres. Davidson was shaken up when a shot hit his goalie mask. As he was recovering, announcers Jim Gordon and Bill Chadwick said Davidson was suffering from "Double Vision."
