Are what kill us lately from Eli - he never seems to lead the receiver or put it in the sport where the rb or wr doesn't need to stop or adjust, etc...
Especially on the check downs, Eli seems to throw the check down and the rb needs to stop or turn around and it just destroys all flow of the play and any chance of it making yardage...
I know I'm speaking in generalities but, it sticks out in my head that it happens a lot.

Lately? I love Eli but that short and intermediate accuracy has always been the weakest part of his game. That's the reason why so many of us thought McAdoo/West Coast and Eli would be a bad match.
\No doubt ELI had some problems with this type of Â
pass in the past. He did it wetll when TIKI was the target behind a better OL. maybe the poor OL play played a big role. He seems better so far this year in the preseason. We will see.
Found it interesting when Papa was discussing the second fumble on Sirius with Weis, their narrative is a quarterback has to keep two hands on the ball. I remember thinking when I heard that to my view he did have two hands on it, but figured I must have seen it incorrectly.
This guy basically absolves Jones of vault for that play
I’ve always felt that way..if a QB is in passing stance, ball up high ready for quick release and he sees the pressure, that’s one thing. If a quarterback doesn’t see the pressure and guy slaps it out I’m not getting down on the QB for that.
When I watched the game live I thought Jones saw the rusher and was slow to react, on that replay it looks like his head is cocked to the left and he doesn’t see the rush..he made no effort to avoid him at all.

You gotta feel the pressure, especially on your strong side. This isn't something to be concerned with unless it was a problem in college, I'm sure his head is swimming underneath that poised exterior.
I saw a breakdown that showed the guy who got the sack was supposed to be double teamed with a chip block and the tackle cleaning up. But the chip block actually knocked the guy past the tackle and gave him a free lane to the QB.
Its possible he thought the protection from that side should have been adequate in his pre snap read and it was just a quirky execution fail that made it not so.
He illustrates some of the finer points of throw accuracy here. Just because it was a completion doesnt mean it's a good throw. Properly leading a receiver into a catch is a crucial dividing line between good QB play and average QB play. Throws behind receivers is leaving yards on the table.
That video pairs up nicely with the episode of Big Blue Banter podcast Â
this week. They hit on Jones and Turchyn goes into a discussion about how certain quarterbacks are particularly better at certain types of throws, and prefer those throws to other types. He gives an example on how Tony Romo apparently preferred stop routes and didn't like crossers. For Eli I never thought crossers, hitting guys on the run was his strong suit..he could be inconsistent on those it seemed to me. That seems to be an area where Jones is different than Eli, that appears to be a strength of his(despite that throw to Jones that didn't lead him).
Ditto. Thanks for this Matt. Fun watching Hernandez too. I think he's due a big soph season.
Also liked the bit about the slant - trust the hole, look ahead & throw. If you watch the route you're likely to throw behind
I hope he gets to pair up with Golden Tate. With his accuracy and timing should be fun with the YAC master.

After this breakdown, reading guys like BW in DC, who try to do the same, they sound very incredulous, very quickly.
