See, I think the opposite - video's like these show just how playable a song like this is. Until he goes rogue at the very end and plays some very high speed runs, he shows that the parts are relatively easy for an average guitarist.
Just don't be fooled into thinking you can do it with a wound G. G strings don't bend that way - he's got an electric set on that axe, I believe.

Yeah, that's kind of how I see it. He does do some pretty cool hybrid picking stuff, but that just takes some practice. I think the most difficult elements are the bends, but with a lot of discipline and practice (and the right fingerboard radius, setup, and/or light strings), even those are achievable.

Ernie Ball actually makes a set of light acoustic strings where the G isn't wound. I believe this is the gauge
