Sweeping this team would huuuuge. Cavalry is on the way. Nimmo, McNeil, and Lowrie on the horizon and great news from Cano as well as he is expected to be running today on top of batting practice. LFGM!
IOW if you are on the DL on 9/1 but not active are you still eligible for the post-season?
Wison and Lugo unavailable tonight. Diaz closes - per Mickey.
need the BP arm and Tejada was redundant.
@mikemayerMMO
Jeff McNeil is playing in a rehab game tonight. He will play both corner outfield spots.

Hard not to have them tonight, but I agree with the decision. Good bullpen management means not running guys into the ground.
Familia and Diaz will have to get us home. Hopefully Thor gives us 7 strong and the offense can put some runs up.

Whohoo. Nimmo, McNeil, and Lowrie all in rehab games. Exciting.
Lworie still just DH-ing I believe.

Lowrie is going to need all of the allotted Minor League games left IMO, and maybe more.
I think a realistic target for him would be September if no setbacks. He'd have to play in the last 5-7 or so of Syracuse games.
Also, Syracuse has won 8 in a row and is only a game out of the playoffs, so there's a possibility of some extra AAA games via that avenue as well.
I'm sure they will do what they can but he's had 4 ab's (and 0 innings in the field) since.. May. That's going to be tough to get going so quickly.

Thor just needs to shut em out and hit one out like he did in May.
Problem solved!
Also acceptable to go off and win by 10.

Nimmo NOT in the lineup.... hopefully not a set back. If it's a setback gotta assume that's it for him this year. Hopefully just being cautious.

and Nimmo in SYR and in the field - means to me they're closer to a return. Maybe this weekend?

He was also pulled in the 5th inning last night from the game.
Yeah, he's ready to come back.
@DeeshaThosar
Jeff McNeil was hit by a pitch in his first at-bat for the Syracuse Mets tonight. He crossed home plate on an RBI single by Danny Espinosa moments later.
McNeil is remaining in the game and playing right field.
JDFDGG - ( New Window )
A lot of younger Mets - deGrom, Thor etc were in a building on my block on the UES that sterling owns. Pretty sure they stash them there until they figure it out.
There you go. Tough AB by the pitcher working that count
Carig: No matter what happens, the Mets have already salvaged a lost season - ( New Window )
Big line of storms coming through now.
Hope so without Lugo + Wilson tonight. Familia has got to get the ball over Diaz I'd think.

Pretty sure Mickey said pregame that Diaz will close.
Worried that we are gonna get Thor’s night will get cut short by two innings.
Cleveland has Santana, Puig, Ramirez due up in the 7th. You could either throw Brach there to try to get the ball to Familia/Diaz or you could throw Familia since it's the heart of the order and try Brach against the bottom of the order in the 8th. Not sure what the weather report is, but if there's more bad weather possible I'd probably just go with Familia first. Maybe even try to get 2 out of him if he's on his game.
Pretty sure Mickey said pregame that Diaz will close.
That's practically confirmation Familia is closing.

True!
I understand working counts but taking players away from their strengths is obviously counterproductive. McNeil is an aggressive hitter, and clearly has always been really good with that approach. Him telling a story about him hitting the cover off the ball for a stretch of games and then being forced to not swing until he takes a strike first, you could tell really frustrated him. Then he says “I guess a hit is as good as a walk” had me shaking my head. Ugh, since that quote is ass-backwards but it’s clearly what the Mets braintrust was preaching.
Then again, striking out isn’t even a negative stat anymore, lol. Yay for dumbass analytics!
