Looking to salvage one in the world's most obnoxious shithole of a ballpark. Need Masa to be a stopper tonight. His last two starts have been good - especially the 8 inning gem in Toronto.
Can't wait to get out of here and move onto LA. Let's go, Yanks!
They need good Tanaka tonight. Jump on Roark early and often!
These games are tough to stay up for. I've been doing it.. but I get up at 6 most days, and all these nights of 4-5 hours' sleep are starting to take a toll... my sleeping habits suck as it is.
Used to love the late, west coast games when I was younger. I think one of the biggest tell's that you're getting old is when you start hating the late West Coast start times. :)
Is it ERA/FIP?
This is bad.
Of course that type of winning isn't sustainable. Doesn't mean they have to get swept by Oakland, though. There is a middle-ground in there.
The pitching is a huge concern.
Not just this west coast trip, the rest of the season schedule is brutal. 12 home games left, 21 on the road. Houston has a cake walk September so it's going to be a struggle to hold them off for best record in the AL
Really not surprising what we are seeing here.
5-1
Exactly.
5-2
Amazing how deep this lineup is. We just need them all healthy at the same time.
Forget the sweep. Onto LA.
And Judge ended up 2-3 with a walk. He's slowly putting together a good stretch. Needs to keep it going.
Forget the sweep. Onto LA.
In field in is one of the dumbest defensive alignments in baseball. Like the bunt, someday metrics will show how bad it truly is, IMHO.
German Road ERA: 5.82
Paxton Road ERA: 5.21
Happ Road ERA: 5.62
Sabathia Road ERA: 6.95

Yeah. Definitely gambling on a good run over a short stretch. Idk what Cash could have done. Even adding Stroman to the rotation wouldn't do much. Just have to get lucky and hope the bats go crazy. But it's baseball. That's possible.
Hasn't been a kind ballpark to the Yanks. I believe 7-21 since 2012. So, it's not even just this year - that place has been a problem for a while now. And who can blame them? Its probably annoying to try doing anything when a bunch of morons are pounding on drums and blowing horns completely out of sync for 3 hours straight.
Anyway... I know there's once again going to be a lot of concern over the pitching, and it's fair to wonder how we're going to make this work, but the postseason will be a different animal. Happ isn't going to get postseason starts - I think the Yanks will do a lot of mixing and matching to get innings and over the next month, they're going to figure out some roles that might work for different pitchers.
We have a lot of guys who should be able to give us more than an inning out of the pen. We may have to get creative and change up the conventional formulas even more - but I do think having the best bullpen in the majors will allow us to do some different things come postseason time.
I think the boys will be ready to play in LA and we'll see better results. Just gotta leave this series in the rearview and move on.

I did go to bed instead and am glad I did.
Blame the field, the West Coast trip, whatever. It's one thing to have to confront the weakness of Yankee starting pitching, which is demonstrably woeful), but another to be forced to face the fact that our HR-oriented batters can be and are being whipped by descent -- not just great, but descent --pitching.
We got a little suckered in there by brutalizing weak teams like the O's and a deflated Red Sox team, but now we're seeing that playing stronger teams (and the A's, earning a sweep, are not at the top of that heap) is different, exposing the limitations of this Yankee team. Love to beat the Dodgers convincingly, but facing their starting pitching could produce a very different result and leave the Yankees in tatters. I will watch avidly and hope for the best -- and the very best will be needed to prove that the Yankees thesis (great bull pens can get you through regardless of the weakness of your starters if your bats are strong) is sound.
It ain't over, folks and I fear it could be just the beginning of a demonstration that teams that ignore having great starting pitching do not come to a good end.
But alas, 3 losses in a row and now it ended.
When are the coming back September call ups?
I assume they’ll try to re-sign Acevedo?
Legit concern. Severino and Bettances are thought to be salvation here. Let's see. Maybe we'll get one or both. And maybe they'll be sharp. Or not. All eyes still awake tonight will be on the Yankees long before any real indication that salvation is even on its way.
