Tonight's winners and losers

kennyd : 8/22/2019 9:17 pm
heading into the fourth quarter, the short list IMHO

winners-
Jones
Ximenes
Ballentine

losers-
Stupar
Hernandez (???)
Tanney

Obviously talking about the younger guys. Maybe someone flashes in the fourth but it will take a lot for most of these guys to make the final 53. Who you got?
The biggest loser was

Stephen A Smith for his LT analysis.

While Hernandez was called for penalties,

the whole left side could be called losers. Solder almost got DJ killed.

Hernandez had a rough night, but what did he lose? He’s still the starter

I said TONIGHT. Obviously he's our starting LG
Bethea the safety was terrible...

Looks slow out there, and a liability, not liking him at all.

He made a heck of a play on a run blitz.
Bethea is going to be

A good player for the Giants this year.
Can I add B Golden to my list?

No serious injuries. So both teams were winners.

Okay maybe I missed that, just those first few plays he looked lost out there. I guess he started to come around as the game went on. Thanks for updating me

So, no players looked better or worse than the others? No one made a case for making the team and no one slid down the depth chart? Hmmmm....
Garrett Dickerson
Breeze_94 : 8/22/2019 9:54 pm : link
stood out, could make the 53 as the 3rd TE over Simonson or as the 4th guy if they carry 4... Conrad was MIA till the end (maybe hiding him for the PS)

Stupar was horrendous at LB. If he makes the team, its solely because of ST's.
That drop by Simonson
Breeze_94 : 8/22/2019 9:55 pm : link
will only help Dickersons case ^^
Add Lauletta to the winner
beatrixkiddo : 8/22/2019 10:05 pm : link
column. Kid won the game, and has continually outplayed Tanney.
Stupar is worse than awful at LB.
Red Dog : 8/22/2019 10:06 pm : link
Hasn't been the best STer, either. Took some important penalties on STs last season. He stinks all the way around.

He better make the team. WTF is Tanney ahead of him every game?

+1
Alonzo Russell
clatterbuck : 8/22/2019 10:27 pm : link
is doing everything he can to make this team. I know it's a tough business but it's clear Shurmur likes him. He would be a really tough cut if it comes to that.

He didn’t even catch a pass. Do you just want him for his ST ability?

We need youth and speed too. I wonder if Slayton is an injury waiting to happen. I’m not ready to cut Golden yet.

Stephen A Smith is the Al Sharpton of Sports Broad
did he actually say LT was one dimensional ? If so
then whatever credibility he may have had is forever gone
it just shows you you can't take him seriously LT was
a lot of things one dimensional is laughable .
I would look for another veteran that is a solid tackler with at least
Bluesbreaker : 8/22/2019 10:57 pm : link
Some range I think we lost some of that in the Collins move
and were missing Ogletree another good run defender .
Will Barkley see any time during pre-season he must be
chomping at the bit to get out there .

Wasn't it him who caught the 2pt conversion?

I think a team will grab Russell if the Giants add him to the practice squad. The guy's 6'3" and blazing fast. Is he good enough to make the roster? Haven't seen enough. Maybe the coaches have and, if so, they know.
Yes.

I liked Dickerson from the Bears game
ColHowPepper : 8/22/2019 11:58 pm : link
and he did nothing to hurt his chances tonight. Good seal blocking, showed some push as in-line TE, sure hands and some powerful runs. I think Simonson is odd man out.

Smith was right - LT was one dimensional - he dominated the field.
Now GTFO of here Stephen.

Banks was really ripping Tanney on the radio broadcast. Basically saying a guy with his experience shouldn't be making the bad throws he was making.
Just play KLau for 4 Qs
Coach Red Beaulieu : 8/23/2019 9:09 am : link
Next game to get him a ton of reps. Certainly has been a roller coaster ride, I liked the pick in so far as it was a scheme fit guy for Shurmur, unlike Webb for Mcadoo.

Looked OKish first preason. The cop incident was concerning, thinking he could get cut, and is now tearassing across preseason and showing some zip.
Brittany Golden
5BowlsSoon : 8/23/2019 9:37 am : link
Why no talk about him?

4.48 speed.....apparently knows how to punt return. Also made two nice catches. Not sure why Cody Latimer is considered a given. Can Cody run back punts? Is Cody as fast as Golden?
Can

I like a few of those young wideouts - Russell. Slayton, Golden, White
Ira : 8/23/2019 9:58 am : link
I think the Giants should take a long hard look at whether Latimer is worth a roster spot.

Lattimer 4.4 range and most BPs by a WR in his draft class.

He is fast and young, what do you mean? He is 6'3" and runs a 4.5. We need a big WR like that

I know he dropped a bad one last night but I think he can catch good enough. I noticed last year he didn’t seem to get separation....that is my primary gripe.
