I’m sitting 2 rows behind the Giants bench at the 50 yard line and thought I’d share some observations from the game. Hopefully can share some pictures later on.
1) Dexter Lawrence is a large human. He makes the other DL look small including BJ Hill.
2) Eli definitely still has game left. Threw some beautiful passes with plenty of velocity. If the OL does his part, Eli play action with Barkley will be hard to stop. Hard to tell from my seat but it appeared Latimer should have caught that ball for a TD that went thru his hands.
3) Daniel Jones is the goods and the whole team loves him. Not just the offensive players but the entire team. When he came to the sideline after the Slayton catch and Smith TD, you would have thought it was the winning drive of a playoff game. High fives, hugs and pats on the back from everyone. It’s obvious they have his back and want him to be successful and shut up the critics.
4) Jabril Peppers has a pretty large wrap on his upper left leg. Something to keep an eye on.
5) This team seems more together and to like each other more than recent teams. Credit to Shurmur and DG here. Lots of camaraderie on the sidelines between offense and defense. Sideline erupted on the punt return TD and Reggie White catch.
6) Its been said before but having witnessed with my own 2 eyes, I must say that Barkley is such a natural leader. We’re fortunate we get to root for this guy. Even though he’s not playing, he’s up on the sideline watching every play, motivating his teammates and keeping spirits up. Even after the Lauletta 2 point conversion, SB sprinted over to congratulate him. Oh and a kid in the stands threw Barkley a ball to sign during the 4th quarter and of course he obliged.
7) Corey Ballentine is going to be a player. You can see the cover instincts and ability are there and he tackles well. Appears to be thinking a bit much right now but when he figures it out we’re going to have a good one.
8) Not sure BJ Goodson or Chad Wheeler makes it this year. May come down to BJ or Stupar for the last LB spot. Even though Stupar can’t tackle, the coaches appear to like him. Wheeler appeared to stay by himself on the sidelines most of the night.
9) The last WR cuts are going to be interesting. Even before the punt return TD, something about Brittan Golden stands out over TJ Jones. He made a couple tough catches and gets open. Seems more reliable catching punts than Jones too. As I type this he just muffed a punt. Slayton gives the offense an added dimension and is a lock along with Shep, Tate, Latimer, Fowler and likely Russell Shepard. So last spot could be Jones, Golden or Russell.
I was at training camp and yes, Lawrence is a mountain of a man.

Hopefully, he doesn't miss 4 games. We all know the impact of a bruised thigh.
