From Leonard's twitter (linked below):
Pat Shurmur raving about Daniel Jones here in Cincy after the game. His intelligence, ability to adjust, making throws in tight coverage not afraid to give his receivers a chance. Shurmur says Daniel Jones said after the big hit “I’ll take bigger hits than that.”
Some more notes from Shurmur re: Jones after the game:
Here's Shurmur's answer when I asked if he likes Daniel Jones enough to give him a shot at the job: “I’ve said it all along. Daniel, when it’s his time he’s gonna be ready, & we’re gonna continue to get him ready, & we’ve got a couple weeks left before we play Dallas.”
Pat Shurmur's fire back at the Daniel Jones critics: "You can ask me all you want about why I like him. I think it’s time to start asking the people that didn’t like him what they think.”
Asked Pat Shurmur what percentage of the playbook Daniel Jones is working with.
Shurmur: "All of it. A long list, big sheet of plays. He knows them all."
Q: He doesn't throw many incompletions...
Shurmur: "That's a good thing, right? I'm glad you noticed that."
In all seriousness, you have to love Jones' thoughts on that big hit he took. And coming back right after the hit and making a big play right after it is another sign that he handles different situations well. Just like after the fumble against the Bears when he came back with a TD pass. This is a 22 year old kid we're talking about here, too. Very impressive. Loving the other blurbs re: the playbook, too.

He has certainly exceeded my expectations!
Go DJ!
Pumped for Daniel and the future of this franchise.

What are you talking about? Nobody is giving the Giants a hard time, I hear nothing but love and optimism from the media. What are you reading?

Love those answers. The Giants are a little spicy this year - I like it. I think they're tired of hearing how bad they are and how everything they've done has been a disaster.

LOL.
X2. And it seems like the whole team does too.
They gave it favorable comment. They like Jones.
As is tradition, my draft knowledge is God awful. I yelled NOOO! when the Giants picked Jones, cementing a inevitable HOF career. :)
I REALLY wanted Lawrence at 6, and we've seen *how* many tackles from him this preseason?
I am the Mush of the NFL Draft.
It doesn't really work that way.
Had NYG taken Darnold, the 2018 season would have been different, likely would not have yielded the same result or same 2019 draft position.
Barkley/Jones and Darnold/Allen aren't package deals here. They were all drafted individually. It wasn't "these two or those two"
“I’ve said it all along. Daniel, when it’s his time he’s gonna be ready, & we’re gonna continue to get him ready, & we’ve got a couple weeks left before we play Dallas.”
“I’ve said it all along. Daniel, when it’s his time he’s gonna be ready, & we’re gonna continue to get him ready, & we’ve got a couple weeks left before we play Dallas.”
I read it a little differently - I read this quote more as him saying there's still time to prepare him to play in the games that count between now and Dallas. Once the regular season begins, there won't be as much opportunity to prepare him and the focus will then shift almost exclusively to the starters and the upcoming opponent.
I don't think he's considering Jones at all for Dallas. I think Eli is firmly entrenched and will be under center barring literally anything other than an injury. No doubt in my mind Eli is going to be the Week 1 starter.

I take that as meaning they have a couple more weeks where they can dedicate time to developing Jones but once the season starts the focus is 100% of getting ready for that weeks opponent.

You have the right read. Ron Mexico and I have been trying to emphasize the limited reps when the season starts will belong solely to Eli preparing for the opponent. Shurmur will have his plate full as HC. He won't have the luxury of whispering in DJ's ear. Shula is busy with the game plan week in/out. DJ will be forced off the teat and his continued progression will come from mental reps breaking down game play.
No wonder that he chooses to be vanilla at times.
Fucking A. Is this why journalism is dying?

Sarcasm? Please?
After all that film they watched.
Nothing he’s done is all that surprising if you bothered to watch him in college.
Until he gets legit chance to start and play and shows signs of first struggling(which would be normal) then watch how quickly the "love" around here comes off lol

The context of the question was would he give Jones a shot at the job and his answer was we are continuing to get him and ready and we have a couple of weeks before we play Dallas.
that's what he said...

yeah I watched the presser
He has been pretty consistent in his answers all year long even if he uses confusing language.
He is getting Jones ready to play. For all intents and purposes that started rookie minicamp and ends (not literally) when the season starts.
He answered the question the way he has been framing it all along, not the way the reporter framed the question
His smirk when he delivered that one was classic.

His clip is at the beginning of that segment and then those two discuss it.

I see it now. The Shurmur clip is at 30 seconds. I was wondering what everyone was commenting about his beard. With your link cutting right to the time in the video, I didn't see the Shurmur segment.
