Gil Brandt-NFLs Most Enviable QB Situations

Giants #4
QB Envy - ( New Window )
That's all

well and good, but...je has the Titans #1??? That is absolutely nuts from every conceivable angle.

I don't understand his reasoning for the Titans

I really like the Colts situation...

Brissett is very close to proving he’s a legit NFL starter. I think he throws and moves considerably better than Bridgewater and should have the Colts higher than the Saints.

If JimG works out in San Fran, it’s going to be a real testament Belichick’s recent ability to identify QB talent...
Brissett
ColHowPepper : 8/23/2019 8:04 am : link
granted it was in the Pats' last Ex game against our Giants late in the game, and we know the caliber of players our 2nd/3rd stringers were at the time, but he looked really good, great arm, poise, accuracy for a late round pick, his first extended NFL action, I think

Lol, it's amazing to me how quickly the narratives have changed here. About a month ago, the Giants were a clueless team with a completely old, forked, and shitty Eli Manning and a major reach of a pick on a kid from Duke who more than half the football world seemed to believe didn't deserve to be drafted anywhere near there.

Now, on August 23, we have one of the most "enviable" QB situations in the league...

Wild stuff.

I believe he started a pair of games in 2016 when Brady was suspended.

To be fair, Brandt has been on the Daniel Jones bandwagon since the day he was drafted. It’s not like HIS narrative has changed.
The Titans' duo ranked first, with the Giants fourth
BlueLou'sBack : 8/23/2019 8:14 am : link
and mainly the placement of the Colts' duo of Luck and Brisset down in 6th place shows just how errant Brandt"s views are at this time.

He loves Mariotta and Tannehill because of AA, youth athleticism?

Maybe he's ranking them for doubles tennis, rather than football.

Sorry I give no credit here.

True - it's just not what I'd ever have expected to have seen published anywhere given what we heard all offseason long about our vet being toast, and our rookie being a gigantic reach.

The Titans being at the top is, indeed, very curious and I'm really not sure why he has so much faith in Mariota. Both he and Tannehill seem like guys who can start, but aren't going to win you many games without a really good team around them and a good bit of help. Both guys are below-average starters in my eyes.

I think you may be right; I was referring to Ex game, last of the season he was drafted, so his first extended action.
But but but I read on bbi Eli and his salary
Coach Red Beaulieu : 8/23/2019 8:19 am : link
It's what is killing our team. Reese and Mcadoo thought the same.

I've been saying for months we have the best QB sit in our division.

Cant wait for Dak to get 35-40 a year. Thinking about it some more, that Dallas team is stacked, I think he is what is holding them back.

If Jimmy G continues on his current path it's going to be a real testament to Belichick's ability to fleece GM's around the league and show why evey trade or free-agent singing out if NE is a losing proposition.
Giants overvalued Solder and Vereen
Coach Red Beaulieu : 8/23/2019 8:51 am : link
Really wanted McCourty, but who knows, he's probably overvalued too in that system.

In fact, I think Jones is a little bit ahead of where Rodgers was at this point in his career. Whenever Jones does take the torch from Manning, I expect him to do big things -- and the many critics who dogged general manager Dave Gettleman for selecting Jones that high will owe him an apology.

Marijuana is not legal in Texas, is it?? I hope he is right, of course.

Ok, so can we now tackle Brissett not actually being a late round pick?
I don't even think I disagree most with Mariota. I personally like him
Ten Ton Hammer : 8/23/2019 9:20 am : link
and think he's suffered a bit from the same letdowns of a poor supporting cast that Jones did at Duke.

But Ryan Tannehill being the main reason for saying you have a great QB situation is bizarre.
Not only that, but Cincy as the #2 worst?
barens : 8/23/2019 9:44 am : link
Finley looked like a steal last night, I would have put Denver or Oakland way ahead of Cincy.

Finley has been sensational the entire preseason. He was my favorite QB prospect in this past draft.

He was actually my choice too. (I have to admit that Fromm and Herbert were my top two). But now, I am so on the Jones train (beginning September 2020).

I thought preseason was batting practice? In all seriousness, Finley's looked good. There were times where his lack of arm strength was apparent which may limit his upside as a starting QB but it's not like anyone is confusing Andy Dalton's arm for Pat Mahomes'.

Tennessee number one disqualifies this whole list. Who wouldn't trade the Tenn QB crew for at least 20 to 25 other casts?
Ryan Tannehill is currently the best backup QB in the NFL, and if

he supplants Mariotta, Mariotta will be. That is where he is coming from.

exactly.. it's a silly theory. Mahomes plus anybody or Rodgers plus anybody is better than the team with the 21st and 28th best QBs.
