He got flagged for holding on a third and goal from the one, on a play that otherwise would’ve gone for six. Instead the Foreskins has to settle for three. It was ugly.
he can't bend and he is so unagile -- and he loses interest in the paly once he blows it -- that play tape is so very Eric Flowers -- thank god he's not a Giant anymore
and saw him make a move I'm calling the "Flowers". He's the only guy who I've seen do this regularly and can't figure out why.
As the defender makes a move upfield he puts his head down, almost like he's going to spear him with his head.
Anyone remember him doing that regularly with us? What's that all about?
Anyway, he clearly hasn't fixed what's going on in his head and now that he's inside at guard defenders have a shorter path to the QB. Scary for WASH.
Dropping his head was what the Giants tried for years to have him stop doing. He was either unwilling to stop or unable to stop. Either way, not good. Up against a halfway decent NFL D lineman, dropping your head is the kiss of death. You’re done. They will eat your lunch.
That’s why you don’t draft a OL with technique issues in the first round that you have to develop. Technique is wayyy more important for a OL than size or strength. You can draft a “project” in the later rounds and hope he finally gets it but not in the first round and certainly not as high as he was drafted.

Very good point. This is big part of Boylhart's philosophy for o-line eval too.
if we are concerned with Solder's play at LT? You could show at least three highlights of his play last night that were just as bad, and he's getting paid a TON!!!
what did Jerry Reese see on tape that made him think he was worth a high pick?
What he saw was a big, strong guy with quick feet and awful technique which hadn't started to improve. Sometimes coaches and scouts feel that they can coach a guy like that up.
a defender rather than hold his position until the defender actually moves. Once the defender makes his move, Erich is way too slow to redirect. I would feel sorry for the guy if not for the fact that he has a lot more money than I do.
You guys remember last preseason and the first few games Â
Giants made. They started him for four years and wasted the prime of Eli's career. This preseason I can hardly recognize Eli standing upright. The Flowers and Apple picks insured Reese will be unemployed forever.
I actually thought Flowers did better than normal in that clip Â
like... for anything.
reese should've felt some sort of pit in his stomache and just traded down.
i'm not even upset about not drafting gurley as he had injury issues. we should've definitely drafted larry tunsil in 2016, or taylor decker. anyone but eli apple. i literally had to look up who he even was.
He thought DT was going right and was burned.

Try not to float, men.
I don’t like you, anymore
When Gurley kept falling I was very happy. Thought he would be a great fit. That being said, behind our OL, he'd probably have sucked!!

I think it’s called being a pussy.
Hate to say it, he does not belong on an Offensive Line. Maybe XFL.
Is it too late to try him at DT?

CONSTANTLY.

HA!

By all indications, just some really lazy scouting. Eli Apple ffs!
Probably liked his 3 cone time. I’m sure Marvin Austin’s was good too...
I think Reese left it to Ross, who either didn't seem to ever actually watch any game tape or is blind. Or both.
I know Hernandez had a poor showing last night, but he's light years better than any OL Reese/Ross ever picked.

Is there a floor?

Bouncers still have to block.... This is not the guy you want guarding your door. I think even I could sneak past him and get into that party! :)
