O Line question

LG in NYC : 8/23/2019 3:05 pm
I believe it was the 1st teamers last night... but just before every snap, the RG shifted in his stance (in fact, first time I thought they were going to call a False Start), then the C bobbed his head, then the ball was snapped.

I have never noticed that before and it was virtually on every snap of the ball last night while that unit was in.

did others notice that?
Yes. Zetiler does that now.

It's an exaggerated pre-snap set. Perfectly legal
Zeitler has been doing that his whole career.

I believe the team even consulted with referees to make sure his movement was legitimate and within the rules.

It's not just some exaggerated motion. He looks back to see if the QB is ready. Makes his motion which the Halapio sees. Halapio pauses to ensure Zeitler is set then snaps the ball.

If the center takes the initiative by moving his head and peeking between his legs and then raises his head abruptly, it can be considered a false start.

Other teams will have the guard perform the look-back and then tap the center indicating the readiness for the snap.
PS was asked about in a recent presser

Our coaching staff has always known he does that, and that it's fine.
I get it though, at first it looks weird, until you realize everyone knows he does it all the time.
It's what he doing after the snap that gets my attention.

Even during a very sloppy game by the O-Line last night, there were clean pockets for the QBs to step up into.
Are you a beat writer?
RobCarpenter : 8/23/2019 3:17 pm : link
Sorry - it seemed like the beat writers were asking question upon question about this issue during the week.
Wasn't concerned... just something I hadn't noticed previously

though I imagine it would allow the D Line to know when the snap is coming.
