BBV Laremy Tunsil trade rumors: Should NYG be interested?

Big Blue '56 : 8/24/2019 3:48 pm
Doubt he’s going anywhere, but I haven’t followed the Dolphins at all the last few years.

Only 25 years old..

Can’t get that image of him in his mask with smoke seeping out...

Sources from Laremy Tunsil's team have confirmed with our own @TonyPauline that he has been dangled around the league as trade bait.

This is in line with what we reported last night - the Miami #Dolphins are shopping a number of veterans on their roster, which includes Tunsil.

Probably because Brian Flores

And they were all clowns for doing so. What a bunch of scared sheep. Guy was smoking pot, and wasn't even going to enter the NFL's program unless he said something incredibly stupid to the NFL while he was under investigation. Teams weren't prepared for him to slip and when he did I think it took them by surprise.

Factor in what kind of LT prospects are coming out of college.
I have a hard time believing this is true
Jay on the Island : 8/24/2019 4:50 pm : link
The Dolphins have one of the worst offensive line's already but Tunsil is one of the best OT's in football and he is very young. They might have their franchise QB in Rosen or they will take one in the 2020 draft where they will more than likely be picking in the top 3. They are already favorites for the #1 pick.

Unless there was some off the field issues that we don't know about yet this makes no sense. Tunsil is a long term building block and we all know how difficult it is to find offensive linemen.

Maybe they don’t like the rumors that

They're going to have tons of cap space and he's an ascending young player at a premium position that is difficult to fill. Has to be more to it than Flores trying to be Belichick.

Probably Reese's worst moment as GM. I was screaming to take him at the time. Though I have to wonder if it was Mara who made the call to take Tunsil off the board for the Giants.

I think it is safe to apply the label to a guy who straps a gas mask with a bong affixed to it.
This is either bogus
LakeGeorgeGiant : 8/24/2019 5:49 pm : link
or there is something we don't know about Tunsil. You don't trade a player like that without a reason.
Lots of college kids do it. Doesn't necessarily make him a pothead.

That is false. Nobody knew anything. It didn't come out until after we picked tyat he wouldn't enyer the drug program. When you invest millions of dollars that is very important to know. For every Tunsil there are more Randy Gregory's. I dont blame the Giants for passimg. Had we hit on our pick nobody would care. We missed and now it is a problem. The bigger problem was letting our intentions known. Wasn't this the draft with Conklin and Floyd getting taken in front of us?

Not that I care. What I care about is guys making millions, chancing it smoking when if they waited a few years (or time it right) they could do what they wanted in a huge house with more money then they could spend.

Robbie...that's right nobody knew anything. If he truly had a

problematic drug issue it would have been known. The last I checked the NFL doesn't put people in the drug program unless they are arrested or fail a drug test. We were on of those teams before the Dolphins that got caught unprepared because nobody thought Tunsil was falling. If the guy had a drug issue, teams would have been prepped for him to possibly tumble.

Zeke, you clearly know the distinction between pulling a tube on a Saturday night and strapping on a gas mask bong.
Thats what people do at college. Fuck, I was a pothead and never
Zeke's Alibi : 8/24/2019 6:24 pm : link
used one, and have known people that partook occasionally and have. Most these guys are pot users. The truly problematic ones (the dummies) generally are weeded out by drug tests and arrests. I don't think a video of guy using a gas mask bong proves anything. The guy that owns that is a different story, but people see that and think cool never done that can I try? Thats how most the people I know that have done it.
Could’ve had Gurley and Tunsil

If the shoe fits ... we won't see eye to eye on this.
Should the Giants be interested?
81_Great_Dane : 8/24/2019 6:39 pm : link
First, they should absolutely do their due diligence on EVERY player who becomes available. That's internal due diligence ("Do we want him? If so, how badly, and what would we be willing to pay?") and external due diligence ("What's the asking price?").

Second, if it were May, I'd prefer him to either Solder or Remmers, but I don't feel strongly about it. I'd trade Solder for him but not the Giants' #1. Given the contract imbalance it probably would be difficult to p the Giants would almost certainly have to make it Solder plus something, probably a pick.

Third, since it's late August, and Tunsil would have to learn the offense, I think that trade is VERY difficult to make.

That shit gets repeated as if it were gospel, but we don't know that. To know that we would have to not only know what the Bears and Titans were thinking, but also

-what the Giants intentions were before that draft (we don't)

- that the information was actually leaked (we don't know that)

- that the information leaked was accurate and truthful (we don't know that)

It appears that Tennessee thought we wanted Conklin. So? That's not fucking rocket science. We needed OL help bad, anybody could see that without a "leak". In their spot I would have looked to jump the Giants also. Big deal. Teams trade up sometimes, get a helmet.

The Bears felt we wanted Floyd, (so did many others) but it always felt strange to me that he was their target considering what a poor scheme fit he was at that time.

Now even if we say for a moment that you're right, the Giants still had a draft board to work with and whether their picks were good or not they would have prepared for any scenario.

The notion that they were surprised and had no idea what to do is foolish. They knew who they wanted next. He didn't pan out. Their problem in the last regime was in identifying prospects not "leaks".

Maybe you are right and the Giants dropped the ball, but the thing is its all speculation.

Not Jones, though. Definitely not Jones.
to the original question i don't know
GiantsFan84 : 8/25/2019 2:06 pm : link
One you'd have to give up a lot to get him. And two you'd have to pay him a lot.

As a rebuilding team it's very fair to wonder if that is the best use of resources, especially with a team flush in cap space. Would the Giants be better off waiting for the next good LT to simply hit FA and sign him and not surrender the picks?
