Pro Football Network @PFN365 Sources from Laremy Tunsil's team have confirmed with our own @TonyPauline that he has been dangled around the league as trade bait. This is in line with what we reported last night - the Miami #Dolphins are shopping a number of veterans on their roster, which includes Tunsil. 214 7:29 AM - Aug 24, 2019 |
#1 for sure imo
He’s probably the best LT in the league rn
He won't be paid like it until 2021
Good job Reese.
Good job Reese.
Passed on the pot head, got a cement head.
Smoke? Or fire?
Good job Reese.
A lot of teams passed on him because of it, as I'm sure you know. The 'what if' is staggering though.

And they were all clowns for doing so. What a bunch of scared sheep. Guy was smoking pot, and wasn't even going to enter the NFL's program unless he said something incredibly stupid to the NFL while he was under investigation. Teams weren't prepared for him to slip and when he did I think it took them by surprise.

Along with his mother.

What do you think it would take? I'm parting with a couple first to make that happen personally.
Factor in what kind of LT prospects are coming out of college.
Unless there was some off the field issues that we don't know about yet this makes no sense. Tunsil is a long term building block and we all know how difficult it is to find offensive linemen.
Good job Reese.
Probably Reese's worst moment as GM. I was screaming to take him at the time. Though I have to wonder if it was Mara who made the call to take Tunsil off the board for the Giants.
Who isn't a risk by your definition? Half these guys in the league smoke pot at least, by many players admission. Who's to say he's a pothead? One video and now you're a pothead? That Obama guy, giant pothead.

I think it is safe to apply the label to a guy who straps a gas mask with a bong affixed to it.

That is false. Nobody knew anything. It didn't come out until after we picked tyat he wouldn't enyer the drug program. When you invest millions of dollars that is very important to know. For every Tunsil there are more Randy Gregory's. I dont blame the Giants for passimg. Had we hit on our pick nobody would care. We missed and now it is a problem. The bigger problem was letting our intentions known. Wasn't this the draft with Conklin and Floyd getting taken in front of us?

Not that I care. What I care about is guys making millions, chancing it smoking when if they waited a few years (or time it right) they could do what they wanted in a huge house with more money then they could spend.
Zeke, you clearly know the distinction between pulling a tube on a Saturday night and strapping on a gas mask bong.

If the shoe fits ... we won't see eye to eye on this.
Second, if it were May, I'd prefer him to either Solder or Remmers, but I don't feel strongly about it. I'd trade Solder for him but not the Giants' #1. Given the contract imbalance it probably would be difficult to p the Giants would almost certainly have to make it Solder plus something, probably a pick.
Third, since it's late August, and Tunsil would have to learn the offense, I think that trade is VERY difficult to make.
That shit gets repeated as if it were gospel, but we don't know that. To know that we would have to not only know what the Bears and Titans were thinking, but also
-what the Giants intentions were before that draft (we don't)
- that the information was actually leaked (we don't know that)
- that the information leaked was accurate and truthful (we don't know that)
It appears that Tennessee thought we wanted Conklin. So? That's not fucking rocket science. We needed OL help bad, anybody could see that without a "leak". In their spot I would have looked to jump the Giants also. Big deal. Teams trade up sometimes, get a helmet.
The Bears felt we wanted Floyd, (so did many others) but it always felt strange to me that he was their target considering what a poor scheme fit he was at that time.
Now even if we say for a moment that you're right, the Giants still had a draft board to work with and whether their picks were good or not they would have prepared for any scenario.
The notion that they were surprised and had no idea what to do is foolish. They knew who they wanted next. He didn't pan out. Their problem in the last regime was in identifying prospects not "leaks".
Maybe you are right and the Giants dropped the ball, but the thing is its all speculation.
Or we may have gotten Floyd.
IIRC it was his ex's father or uncle, justing trying to cause Tunsil some pain.
Bbi had a hard on for both Gurley and Tunsil, but yet....
If Reese was still GM there's no way we would of had Jones and Barkley

Actually, I think even Reese would have drafted Barkley.
Not Jones, though. Definitely not Jones.
As a rebuilding team it's very fair to wonder if that is the best use of resources, especially with a team flush in cap space. Would the Giants be better off waiting for the next good LT to simply hit FA and sign him and not surrender the picks?
And I’m willing to bet Reese got the no go from Mara.
The Apple pick on the other hand...
