NGT | League Wide QB Depth

A few of these teams have really poor depth at QB. The Luck retirement piqued my curiosity.

Check out Buffalo, Indy, Dallas, Atlanta. Carolina and the Panthers.

I don't see how an Eagles QB doesn't wind up on one of these teams.
Ourlads Depth Chart - ( New Window )
Do the Eagles have any QBs left?

Very true

If Tanney had looked sharp in the last two games he'd have some genuine trade value. Alas...

If the Giants want to keep just 2 on the 53 and "stash" Lauletta on the 53, I think Lauletta clearing waivers is a substantial risk given the injury situations.

So I think they almost have to keep 3 on the 53 which is unfortunate.
Saints have best depth IMO

Bree-Bridgewater-Hill
Baltimore Ravens

Most likely to have their top two quarterbacks blowout acl's on consecutive plays.
I think the Bengals have a very good depth chart

Finley looked solid vs the Giants and he may be their starting QB in 2020.

I was a fan of Jacob Dolegala in the draft and I wanted the Giants to use a 7th on him regardless of whether or not they went QB in round 1. With Driskel set to be the primary backup the Bengals will likely try to stash Dolegala on the practice squad. I would like to see the Giants make a strong offer to Dolegala to join their practice squad assuming Lauletta is the Giants 3rd QB. If Tanney is the 3rd QB I would rather sign Dolegala to be the 3rd QB. This kid has tools to develop and he looked very solid especially when you consider the huge increase in the level of competition from Central Connecticut State University to the NFL.
The Chiefs will go with Mahomes and Henne ...

with Kyle Shurmur having a legitimate chance to be their #3 ... he’s played well the last couple of games.
Looking at all those depth charts

The Giants definitely have one of the best QB depth charts in football. The teams with the best depth IMO:

Saints - Brees, Bridgewater, Hill
Giants - Manning, Jones, Lauletta/Tanney
49'ers - Garoppolo, Mullens, Beathard
Titans - Mariotta, Tannehill, Woodside
Dolphins - Fitzpatrick, Rosen, Rudock

49ers

Are tough to put as a top QB team because of Grap's small sample size. If he can stay healthy is a big question.
Last month or so

The giants were ranked around 31st or so in terms of combined QBs by one outlet can’t remember which. I remember the word “uninspiring” being used.

Good post. Nice breakdown of the Cincy situation.

I was a big Finley fan pre-draft. I think he's got a shot to do some good things out there...
This analyze just confirms my suspicions - I say cut both and go with

2 QBs. Whats the point of having a 3rd? They aren't really any good (no team has a 3rd QB that means anything), you're just taking up a roster spot from someone who can help out on special teams, etc, and finally being the 3rd QB means you won't get any practice time and won't be active anyway. If something happens like an injury, you can easily pick up one of these bums in a day or two. In fact I bet you can have a workout with 10 of them if you want.

So that you don't go into next season with 1 qb in a time when the legaue is short on backps. I don't think drafting a qb 4 years in a row is a good use of our resources
