Why is no one talking about this?......

NJBlueTuna : 8/25/2019 12:40 pm
Lauetta just became a bit more valuable as a trade asset. Regardless of whether he is better than Bisett (he is not) but he does fetch a draft pick now.

Sad day for the NFL. Luck’s retirement will have deeper ramifications than people think.
Because it isn't a story.

Lauletta sucked before Luck's retirement and will suck after Luck's retirement.

Luck's retirement has zero impact on Lauletta's trade value.

He had none before, he has none now.
Lauletta has looked good this preseason
robbieballs2003 : 8/25/2019 12:44 pm : link
so I wouldn't say he sucks. He sucked last year.

But what is the point of trading Lauletta for a mid to late round pick when he is probably more valuable to us as a cheap backup QB? What about next year? We need someone behind Jones. Who is that guy going to be? If it is Lauletta then that makes perfect sense. Why trade him for a mid to late round pick and spend big money on a back up QB or even worse use another pick on a QB hoping he works out? It really doesn't make sense unless they just hate him.
The only value with Kyle
Diver_Down : 8/25/2019 12:44 pm : link
is the Jaguar that he drove to dodge and evade the cops. He'll be selling insurance in the Lehigh Valley. At least, he has a nice car.

Agree. Robbie, there are about 29 other teams that have a backup QB they like as much or more than they would Lauletta.
Ugh
NJBlueTuna : 8/25/2019 12:46 pm : link
If we could could get a 6th or 7th Lauletta is gone.
Lauletta's value went up because Luck retired?

You're a competent NFL Scout. When are you getting hired?
People don't think Laulletta looks like a competent backup NFL QB?

I don't think he has trade value outside of a 7th or so, but I could see him sticking around the league.

for his half-cocked thought is standard BBI.
The colts were building for the next step
INDYJIM : 8/25/2019 1:55 pm : link
they made the playoffs, won one game in the playoffs and were planning to go further this year. From what the ocal media is saying about the Luck issue, it appears to come out of now where and caught the GM and coach offguard. If they bring in a quarterback it would be for backup and they would want a vet im sure
Here is why the Colts are not interested in Lauletta..
EricJ : 8/25/2019 2:13 pm : link
because the Colts lost their starting QB. If anything, they are going to trade for a guy who can be their starter AND who is better than JB.

So, they trade for Lauletta and he sits on the bench for the Colts too.

Other than get more QB depth in the event of an injury, what else would be the purpose of trading for Lauletta?

Then, even if they did have interest, what kind of value would you think a bench QB can bring?

A guy like Teddy Bridgewater has much more trade value now than Kyle.
If you think he has trade value
jc in c-ville : 8/25/2019 2:17 pm : link
Based that he is a competent backup, why would you trade that especially at the QB position? To get a 6/7th round draft pick? Big F deal. Holy shit. I need a drink.
Are Perkins and Gallman more valuable after Miller's injury?
KentGraham : 8/25/2019 2:35 pm : link
Why would the Colts give away an asset for an unproven second year player with essentially no NFL experience as a result of Luck's retirement?

I noticed Jones's jersey # 08 is not for sale, only # 01.

Last season GM rsv jersey # 26.
No logic, juts seems odd.

lol "ignorance"

Lauletta has virtually no trade value. and Luck won't change that. The Colts aren't going to be interested, they have a better option on the roster.
Because it isn't a story. Lauletta sucked before...and will suck after

Johnny5 : 8/25/2019 4:33 pm : link
as the 3rd QB over Tanney. He can backup Jones next year.
There are better options
upnyg : 8/25/2019 4:35 pm : link
Sloter, Sudfeld (when healthy). They could use a vet backup like a Tanney or better to help Brisset.
Lauletta needs to be kept
Giantz_comeback : 8/25/2019 4:36 pm : link
He has acquitted himself admirably since the driving incident.

He is playing excellent at QB right now.

This is very likely Elis last year. Lauletta has much more upside than Tanney IMO.

You keep him and he is Jones backup moving forward.

Agree. Also, the Colts were a playoff team last season and looked to be one this season. They're not going to hand the reins to Lauletta.

The guys whose trade value went up are guys who have been successful starters in the league: Teddy Bridgewater, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Eli Manning, Derek Carr, even Case Keenum if Washington decides to start Haskins. But that was 100% predictable. Some QB always goes down in camp or early in the season. The teams that think they might have QB to trade are smart to sit tight and wait for the market to go up.

And the Colts like JB. They're not in a panic. They might want Alex Tanney or Kyle Lauletta to back him up but not enough to trade for either of them. One of them will be on the street in a week anyway, along with 40-50 other QBs now on rosters, many with NFL game experience.

To piggy back off of this, if the Colts called the Giants about a QB, it would be Eli. (Not that that would ever happen).

Lauletta has played himself onto SOMEONE's roster this season. I hope the Giants keep him because he has the potential to be a good #2 in the future.
I'd cut them both and go with 2 QB's
PatersonPlank : 8/25/2019 7:53 pm : link
If something happens we can pick up a QB of equal or better quality any week of the season
Lauletta looks
Thinblueline : 8/25/2019 9:05 pm : link
Average about the same as 20 other back-ups..
So we spent a 4th on him
Rudy5757 : 8/26/2019 10:29 am : link
and now we're hoping for a 7th? I guess if you are going to cut him a 7th is fine but doubtful the Colts want him. I think there will be better options available at cutdown than Lauletta.

I think the Giants should consider a deal for Eli on the other hand. it wont happen but that is the opportunity. You have a guy on a 1 year deal with the QB of the future looking good. A better trade scenario could not have presented itself. That is the trade conversation to be had. They have a playoff caliber team and a good OL, Eli could be a good QB for them in that scenario and play a few more years while they find their future QB.
Lauletta

is a dime a dozen player, you can get a guy like that without trading.
he definitely looks better than he did last year
