Any team drafts qb at 10 one year and at 1 the next has to be regarded as a mess until proven otherwise. So yeah even with no games played yet it's not unreasonable to think they might do something like hire a coach and then toss him halfway through the first season.
If anyone is going to pull a stunt like that it's a team with their recent history.
- They will have one of the worst defenses in the league
- They hired a coach who wasn't even that successful in college
- Said coach was hired for his offensive innovation, although the main talking point in preseason has been that Murray has been running his offense since he was 8 years old. Innovation a 4th grader can understand!!

But a little over a month ago or less, the Cards were on the rise with Murray, Kingsbury, and their spiffy WR corps while the Giants under Dave Gettleman and Pat Shurmur and Mara and Tisch were dazed and confused, without direction or a clear plan, and had drafted a 3rd round talent level QB at 6 overall...
The fact that the Kingsbury hire has been applauded rather than scrutinized, the fact that the Murray pick was applauded instead of wondering how the hell a franchise is on their 2nd 1st round QB in two years is perplexing.
The situation in Arizone is ripe to ask what the fuck the plan is, but does it get the microscope? No. But Gettleman not having a plan not only gets talked about - there are literally articles written asking that question.
FMIC - I guess that's a benefit of being out in the desert
and being one of the few high ticket shows within a hundreds of miles radius, rather than operating in the crucible of NYC.
The microscope is always on in NY.
It irks me when Giants beat guys like Leonard and Lombardo rake mud and spin garbage, but honestly it bugs me even more, when I have lived in other cities, and the local media sucks up to teams and players and makes ridiculous claims like Latrell Sprewell is the second coming of Michael Jordan...
That was a serious take in SF's dailies for a few years...
Yeah, they signed him 3 days ago.
Now that Crabtree's returning to the NFC West, Sherman was asked about it recently...
Interesting hot take. Seems to be borne out of... well, nothing.
How do you know that Murray is going to set them back 5 years before one regular season game has been played?
You should probably be in an NFL front office if you have this type of foresight.

So the pundits claimed.
