Jadeveon Clowney Likely To Be Traded In Next 24-48 Hours? https://profootballrumors.com/2019/08/jadeveon-clowney-likely-to-be-traded-in-next-24-48-hours
Clowney can't sign a new contract until after the season. He can only play on the FT tender. Houston applied the OLB tender and Clowney still has a grievance with league as he feels it should be the DE tender. A couple mil is the difference. But regardless, we have about $6M in space. Of course, we could always extend Eli and lower his cap hit. ;-)
I don't know who went out with this first, but they are saying it differently.
McClain is saying the Clowney gets traded for a OT (Tunsil?) while Lombardi is saying WR to complement Hopkins because they can't depend on Fuller (which could mean anyone and is insane).
Good question... lol. I read it somewhere earlier. I'll see if I can find the article. Something about maximizing value for Tunsil ahead of a strong tackle draft next year, and gaining another defensive cornerstone to pair with Christian Wilkins, yada yada.
RE: Hahahaha, Lauletta? Come on now. They have Watson. Â
Cant be asking for much since he is essentially a one year rental...
Most I'd give is a 3rd round pick...
DG already wasted one of those on Beal (only half serious about Beal), why not go for Clowney??? Dude is easily a top 10 EDGE defender.
Because, one, they will get more than a third. Two, Clowney controls everything here as he cannot be traded until he is signed. Three, we don't have the cap space. But keep on keeping on.
RE: RE: Have to admit a 3rd for Clowney would be tempting, Â
Cowboys can do it, so can the Giants.. I would take a shot. I see it this way, Cowboys, Eagles, both stacked with quality players on both sides. Why can't the Giants?
More name, narrative and hype than anything. Don't want an injury prone player at a position you get manhandled for 60 plays by someone 30 lbs heavier. He's not Strahan.
RE: RE: RE: Have to admit a 3rd for Clowney would be tempting, Â
The Dolphins are looking to stockpile draft picks not do player-for-player.
The Giants, however, could really use Clowney and we KNOW they are looking for a stud Edge Rusher. (Remember back to the Chubb interest - still unresolved.)
Gettleman is very active on trades and has already shown an aggressive nature and willingness to part with future picks (Beal). I'm not expecting it but given the Giants needs it wouldn't shock me at all. Particularly since they have so much cap space coming up.
We need multiple quality pass rushers moving forward.
Lets make no mistake : Clowney is a dominant football player.
Im not even saying I want the trade but to say he makes no sense isn’t true. Not a great fit? You could argue that. But no sense at all-especially since we have a window the next few years?
Of course he is... not many pressure the QB as well as Clowney. Jadeveon gets more QB hits, QB hurries, Sacks and Tackles for a loss than anyone on our team by a mile.

He's a very good player. He's absolutely not a dominant player.
If you want to know what a dominant player looks like, you don't even need to go to a different team - just look at the guy who has been playing on the other side of him and gets double and triple teamed regularly.

Playing opposite jj watt he should be tearing it up and just hasn’t and that’s when he can stay on the field

Despite having the physical tools to be dominant, Clowney isn't.
That will throw up red flags every time. We may need pass rushers, but we don't need ones that could give a crap about work ethic and will cost something to have the luxury of dealing with that attitude.
about to happen.

"there was speculation that a ceasefire was imminent"
is tempting, but I think we stay the course and build from within. I don't think this team is a pass rusher away and the man has to be paid at the end of the season.
No and No.

Lauletta for Clowney is tough to swallow but I would do it. We can draft another QB next year with the second rounder we got from the Saints.

But how does that make sense for Miami?
Clowney for Paul Perkins

Okay. Okay.
Clowney for Gallman

I thought it was the Saints first rounder?

jon beason? is the value still there?

Once Eli is traded to the Colts, though, that clears a lot of cap space.

a third? maybe if they throw in Deshaun Watson

if the Giants could clear the cap space. Presumably that would be the end of Rhett Ellison, for one thing.

Do you know how draft picks work? It'd take at least a third for a guy like Clowney, who would fetch a third compensatory pick after his FA payday.
If we were inclined but I don't think we are.

i was being sarcastic.
Lots of players are great in college but not in the pro's. The NFL is a league of the best of the best, all these guys are athletic freaks.
Clowney for Paul Perkins
Ok, ok. If pushed I'd send both Laulette and Perkins to close it. maybe even role in Tanney. That should do it.

Clowney isn't a fit here and makes no sense for NYG.
I was thinking the same thing.
The Texans are already pretty deep at WR.
If anything, they should make a trade for OL, RB or DB

Yea i realize it wasn't clear because there would be folks saying and believing exactly that sound here
So he doesnt get the double teams and JJ does. Clowney is not at all worth even the tag.
We may have the worst edge rushers in the NFL.

Clowney for Paul Perkins
No way do you do Perkins. He had 26 yards receiving. Houston has to throw in a third and a fifth
It makes the team better in Madden, though!
