Because people do not want to pay for their product and they realize people are getting the product for free way to much. SO if you want the product pay for it. Otherwise go watch at a bar.
I called earlier this morning
tangled up in blue : 8/28/2019 4:52 pm : link
and spoke to the loyalty/retention dept. I was polite and cordial and said that we would need help with our monthly bill. The guy talked to his supervisor and offered to reduce it by $30 a month. I then asked about getting Sunday Ticket for free and he said I would qualify for that also. Been with them 17 years, maybe that helped. I guess it depends on who you talk to.

That's great for you, but some of us live in parts of the country where no games are shown live (other than national broadcast games); going out to a bar/restaurant every time can get very pricey...
I always enjoy these threads
mstyles22.0 : 8/28/2019 5:01 pm : link
And the stories of "yeah, I told them I was going to walk away so they gave me Sunday Ticket MAX for $29.99"

Anyway, that's never happened to me and I'm a fairly resourceful guy.

I tried the reddit threads, digital antenna and living and dying with the distribution maps last season and it was a mess. Probably the right move in retrospect since Big Blue was so bad, but I still found myself scrambling on most Sundays and then just watching the replays on Gamepass.

Long story short, I ponied up the $270 this season for the Sunday Ticket app. It's absurd, I know. And it doesn't even include Red Zone (that's $400).

Of course I found out a day after I paid that I could use my brothers name and college email and get everything for $99, but he's only a Soph so I'll do that next year.

Good luck!

My daughter is in college and I'm trying to figure out if I can use her student information to get the NFL Ticket. From what I read I can but how do I get it at my home since her college is 300 miles away?

Any help is appreciated!
Do you watch other games beside the Giants?
Gman11 : 8/28/2019 5:23 pm : link
If you do then the ability to watch any game that is being played is a good deal. Don't want to watch the Rams - Bucs game? No problem. Just switch it to the Pats - Eagles. All in the comfort of your own home. And, if you're not at home you can watch on their app.

Dish viewing of Giants games in jeopardy
Adirondack GMen : 8/28/2019 5:43 pm : link
At least it’s not as bad as the looming NFL season blackout on Fox regional stations. Dish lost 15 regional Fox Sports.
Disney has started advising Dish subscribers of the looming deadline with FX
Local Fox station has been off line since March and today the satellite carrier- Dish said it doesn’t know when to expect it back. Dish rep told me I could buy NFL network for $10 a month and you can get “every Giant game on NFL network.” I laughed and said really -that’s 2 games! Rep said yes those are all the Giants games ....on NFL. But not the other on Fox - you won’t get those until they agree on a contract.
This doesn’t sound good for Giant football fans who have contracts with Dish- The co-founder and former CEO of the nation’s fourth-largest subscription-TV service appears to have sounded the death knell for the regional sports networks model, telling investors that Dish Network is considering dropping the Fox Sports-branded channels permanently as the two sides continue their recent carriage standoff.

Else, I use crappy streams. I'm kinda poor.

How does that work?
I'm considering a VPN with European IP address and the $99 Sunday Ticket. Not sure you can watch with just a foreign email address but I could be wrong.

Can you please let me know where you got that box? A Friend of mine has it but got it at a home show. I'd like to get that
I had it for 12 years or maybe
section125 : 8/28/2019 6:41 pm : link
15 years. It started as $149 and when I left it was $380+/-. The Giants were good, so on all the time and were blacked out on the Ticket. So it was useless. On top of that they blacked out all the good games because of National TV. It was not like that earlier. I could watch 3 games even if on the local channel (from what I remembered.)
It just was not worth paying $380 for 3 or 4 games per year.

I called to cancel because my bill was to high and I wanted NFL ticket but didn't want to pay for it... they offered a big discount, but not free NFL ticket... so they cancelled it... Day of cancel a week out I called and I said I wanted to talk about the deal I was offered to stay for the big discount and NFL free ticket... no problem and $5 cheaper then the price without NFL ticket.

Except when they lose the feed during the Giants drive to tie the game in the fourth quarter. You hit refresh. Close your browser. Say a prayer. Light a candle. Anything. And, then it finally comes back to see the other team doing the kneel down.
I have had to reload once or twice during some games
montanagiant : 8/28/2019 9:30 pm : link
Takes 5 secs for the feed to come back upn and still better than paying 300+ for Direct TV

A simple refresh and it's back up 5 secs later. Only happens rarely

Knineteen : 8/28/2019 11:06 pm : link
but Sunday football is a pretty short time period. The price for NFL Sunday Ticket is a complete rip-off given it's really only good for 17 days out of the year. All of the other games are on broadcast/ cable TV.
I'm not sure
MookGiants : 8/28/2019 11:32 pm : link
how anyone can say Sunday Ticket is a "complete ripoff"

Not worth it in your opinion? Fine.

Complete ripoff? Yeah, no. If you have the time to watch more than 1 game a week, it's a tremendous value. 17 dollars or so a week (if you pay full price which I haven't in years) is a good deal. If you go to a bar to watch all of the games your bar tab is likely to be double or triple that alone each week.
and it's not fair to say "it's just 17 days a year"
MookGiants : 8/28/2019 11:33 pm : link
You have to look at it as it's 7 games a week, sometimes more, that you can't watch otherwise.

I never got it free like many here. I got a couple discounts and an additional sports package which was great for college. If I dont get any discounts, I dont care. The package is worth it to me. It's cheaper than going out as well being more comfortable.

I also dont have to deal with the shady streaming. maybe the reddit streams are better now, but good God did I hate switching from link to link back in the day. Quality was iffy and you had to hope you didn't get a virus.
The quality on internet streams is too unreliable for me
BH28 : 8/29/2019 12:37 am : link
I have NFL game pass since I am out of local network and cant watch the preseason games live. Maybe the app for the PS4 is just a piece of shit, but the bitrate on game pass for NFL games is complete garbage. Super jittery and this wasn't even a 'live' game. It's not my internet connection since I have no issues watching 4k content from amazon or netflix.

Here is what I found from the NFL site:
Quote:
The bit rates are as follows:

Up to 1280x720px at 4.5Mbps or at 6Mbps only for Chromecast and AppleTV
Up to 1600x900px at 4.750Mbps or up to 1980x1080px at 6Mbps only for Chromecast and AppleTV

So at best, you'll get the equivalent to 720p at close to 60 fps on only the chromecast and apple TV it sounds like. You would almost want that to be the guaranteed minimum...any bitrate that slips below the max is going to look jittery.

Never had any FPS issues or anything like that watching it the old fashioned way on sunday ticket. I am hoping next year (2020) we get a couple 4k games, that would be a game changer (no pun intended).

I use it from a Mac from time to time, and can usually have some success. Never works right from phones for me.

As for Sunday Ticket - you can always buy a legal stream on eBay. There are people who sell the login to the streaming service trying to recoup some of their costs. Last year I bought for first time and it worked flawlessly. This year I got one for $30 - includes Redzone channel.

What I hate is having to paying for a bunch of content I don't care for just to get what little I do. The first service that let's me pay for what I want ala carte will have a friend for life.

I currently have AT&T NOW for $95/mo. I probably watch about 15 channels on a regular basis. But I have to pay for the rest of the crap that I don't want to get what I do want.

Clearly you find value in it or you would not want it. It costs $300 for the season, which is $18.75 for 16 games of your favorite team. Direct TV pays $1.5 Billion for the rights. Without the NFL deal, Direct TV as it is will probably go under costing thousands of people jobs. How is Sunday Ticket over priced? Cheaper then a season ticket which only get s you 8 home games.
