This is the game you get when you have snowflake training camps and super careful pre season games.
It wasn't as terrible as people are going to portray it though...both defenses played well. Still there's still a lot of chemistry that needs to be built among the offenses
Defense really is improved, or if Trubisky and the bears offense just made them look better than they are. Brutal night for the bears, doesnt get much worse than that.
I basically didn't watch the second half until the last 4 minutes. Trubisky looks like shit. I'd be livid if I was a Bears fan, holding Rodgers to 10 points and still losing. It seems the Bears will never have a good QB, though there still is time for Trubisky I guess, but that last INT was an awful throw into double-coverage when he still had another down to go.

Trubisky is a mercurial QB that had one of his bad games and it is Week 1...but I really think the GB D can be one off the best in the league. They have made huge upgrades in the offseason. First at DC as Pettine has kind of been forgotten but is one of the better coordinators in the league. Then at the pass rush, overpaying for the two biggest names but immediately injecting life into a dormant pass rush. Most importantly, a unit overlooked by most fans, in the secondary. Their top 3 corners last year were two rookies and a 2nd year player/first year starter coming off the IR. They also replaced the worst starting safeties in the league with top FA in Adrian Amos and a 1st round rookie that is getting a ton of buzz as a potential elite S in Savage. They're the real deal.
but Packers defense has improved. They have been slowly improving their defense which is a good thing. They have been having decent decent drafts.
I think this is true...they tackled really well last night, Montgomery could never get going. And as much as Trubisky is no great shakes, the Packers didnt give his receivers much room at all
series and than they realize that shit wasn't working and they just went back to Rodgers offense. Aaron Jones fantasy owners probably pretty pissed. Although it was one game against one of the best defenses in the league.
Why didn't Montgomery get more touches? He looks like a much better
player than Mike Davis. At first I thought it may have been pass blocking issue and then I realized the Bears never keep their RBs in to block. What the fuck is up with that Nagy?

Oh, I know. I called it when it happened. As you can see, I had "Coach Rodgers" in my threadstart hours before the game even started.

Thought Nagy said it'd be a RBBC. Cohen was basically a slot receiver, Davis seemed to play passing downs.
RE: Trubisky is the type of QB that teams fall in love with at draft time
Great arm, great pocket awareness, great athlete, terrible decision maker. If Nagy wasn't there he' be a total coach killer.
i think he has more problems than just being a terrible decision maker (which is of course totally true). He may have ok arm strength but he is an inaccurate passer. yes he hits the occasional impressive throw, but he is highly inaccurate to all fields, he is as likely to throw a shit pass as a good one. And he does not look to have great pocket presence to me. He often looks rattled and it seems many times the game is too fast for him. He does move well but often he looks bad standing in the pocket.
awareness is tremendous. Him and Sam Darnold look like the same QB at times, but Darnold is way more consistently accurate.
i guess based on last night i don't agree about pocket awareness being good. yes he moves well but he often looks frazzled standing in the pocket, often when it doesnt seem warranted, and he rushes throws which contribute to his accuracy problems.
I thought his presence was on display last night, he slides around
Barkley is much bigger and faster than Cohen. On Saquon's 78-yard touchdown run against the Redskins, he reached a top speed of 21.91 miles per hour, according to NFL Next Gen Stats. Barleys touchdown run goes down as the fastest speed reached by any player on a rushing touchdown during the 2018 NFL season. Saquon was the third-fastest player in the NFL last year. Cohen was not ranked.
Many players run extraordinarily fast 40-yard dash times but are not among the fastest NFL players. John Ross is an egregious example.

Barkley is a singular talent.
Barkley is not much faster than Cohen. Cohen also had a 70 yd run that exceeded 21mph. Barkley is much bigger, yes, but not much faster.
That was a split second away from a pick six.

Joe Gibbs at least did football before racecars

Credit goes to dep. He pointed out it to me through an email
👍
That shit would have fooled me too.
The Coach Rodgers stuff had me cracking up last night.

Can Rodgers win MVP and Coach of the Year in the same year? Has this ever been done before? Has it even been attempted?

You were certainly into something with that angle. It was very funny...
