NGT: OBJ and his hip injury

Defenderdawg : 9/5/2019 4:15 pm
Odell Beckham Jr. says his hip injury has prevented him from opening up and sprinting, but he hopes the adrenalin will take over vs. Titans

"It’s something that prevents me from opening up and sprinting,'' he said in his podium press conference.

He said he’s never dealt with something like this before and that he’s getting rehab on the hip every day. But asked if 90% of him is better than 100% of someone else, he smiled and said "I’m confident in me.''

He said he plans to ‘give it my best in each and every way’ during the game Sunday and FirstEnergy Stadium “and nothing will get in the way of that.”

OBJ has missed 16 of the last 32 games + more games than Sammy Watkins (both entered NFL in 2014) w/ ankle, quad, hamstring, and now hip injuries.
The upside is massive with a downfield thrower like Baker, but the injury concern is not something we can completely dismiss

and yet he's not listed on the Browns injury report

Something tells me he's never going to replicate or exceed his best year(s) he had here.

Gettleman did the right thing. The value is just going to keep diminishing.

My thinking is ...
FStubbs : 9/5/2019 5:11 pm : link
... whenever he does take the field this year, he'll be a dynamic player, but not, well, Beckham anymore.

At the end of next season I think Browns fans will consider Beckham a bad contract.
he's going to be a dud this year

Are responsible for his hip injury by forcing him to play on the onsides team. Why do you think he couldn't dive for that ball? Hip

You do remember that he was injured his rookie year with a hamstring.... and was still incredibly productive over the years.

But, hip injuries are no joke.

Laugh all you want, his arrow is pointing down. Hamstring lingered as a rookie, shattered his ankle and quad injury last year. Lower body injuries, multiple in short periods, really tear down the base of the body and he's facing more nagging stuff again. His elite speed and body control and that top end gear will keep going down.

Fortunately, he's no longer is ours. So it's open season on him . . . .
He never really bothered me when he was here
David B. : 9/6/2019 11:00 am : link
I loved watching him play, and I don't think he's a bad guy. Just butt-hurt.

Now he's gone. I don't wish him any malice and certainly not injury. But his antics and problems are no longer my team's problem.

I hear JPP is still missing great gobs of games every season.
That's a shame.
yada yada availability.

Loved Beckham. Loved his skill. But if he can't get off the trainer's table, I'd rather have the pretzel and bag of donuts.
Odell
GMAN56 : 9/6/2019 12:11 pm : link
did bring excitement when he was out there making plays for sure but he is Clevelands headache now with his antics. I am sure he wants to play now more than ever but quite possibly these injuries will ruin his career and we will all one day say remember this guy Odell?
Doesn't sound good ...
Manny in CA : 9/6/2019 1:23 pm : link

I know a little bit about hip injuries. 20 years ago, I injured my right hip playing basketball. I kept playing for a couple of years, the pain would come and go.

Now I'm an old man and need a hip replacement.

If his injury is severe enough for the team to keep him out, pain killers, mental toughness and cortizone can just do so much.

He's an ex Giant who brought a lot of excitement to us. I'll be rooting for him.

You can't compare JPP and Beckham. JPP helped win a ring. Beckham helped get a couple of extra Monday night games scheduled.
Not rooting for his injury, but like most am not surprised
ChaChing : 9/6/2019 5:33 pm : link
TBH why I took Jarvis in FF with a little more confidence, OBJ is all but guaranteed a few games out

Hip is awful depending on how bad it is, certainly can effect everything, not just hip rotation, but walking, running, jumping of course...
