OK...a few things we are most excited about?

ryanmkeane : 9/6/2019 2:34 pm
Enough with the predictions and all this nonsense that the season could be over if we lose...let's talk positive here and name some things we are excited about for the upcoming season. Here are a few of mine:

1. We added some real good talent on defense in the draft. Someone asked recently if Lawrence could replace Snacks...are you kidding me?! Lawrence was arguably one of the more dominant DL in college football throughout his tenure at Clemson, I'm pumped to see him up front. Baker is another, he's got some swag and could be what the doctor ordered at corner for us. We need a dude who is gonna set the tone on the outside.

2. A functional (maybe even good?) god damn offensive line. Finally we get to see what this offense looks like with an above average OL. At least on paper, we should be able to sustain some drives and hold our three and outs to a minimum. Field position absolutely killed us last year. It felt like if we started at our own 15 or 20, that we would just have zero chance to get something going. Now, it appears these guys are ready to kick some ass up front. So let's fucking go.

3. Shurmur 2nd season as head coach/playcaller. The playcalling down the stretch last season was actually pretty great. I felt like even though it was a tough year for everyone, Shurmur evolved as a caller as the year went on, and our offense was actually really solid despite a putrid OL. Let's see if Shurmur can correct some of the game management shit that came up a few times. I'm excited to see how he's grown as a HC in year 2.

4. Carter/Golden/X-man off the edge. We really need to get some damn pressure from the edge rushers. Excited to see Carter in year 2, a healthy Golden, and any production we can get from the X-man will be positive.

Have at it...

I'm excited we signed Zeitler, he's our best OL

I'm excited to watch Saquon, he's the best RB in the league.

I'm excited to watch our young DL and Secondary develop. Lots of talent there and should be very good once they take their lumps and figure it out.

As Max Kellerman would say...

Saquon, Saquon, Saquon!

Haha. Also, I'm excited for Eli to prove he can still play in this league. If Rivers and Ben can play, why can't Eli?

Lastly, I'm excited for the young CB's. Baker, Ballentine, Love, Peppers, and eventually (fingers crossed) Beal.
1-0...

if Carter/Golden/Ximenes really put heat on QBs.

Saquon with room to run.

Our defense makes me nervous
I’m excited that it’s time to play games for real.

I love this team and this franchise and I hope we are getting better.
1. Saquon.

2. A bunch of winnable games, particularly in the first half of the season.
3. Always enjoy watching Eli play.
4. Possible Daniel Jones appearance at some point later in the year.
Daniel Jones and Saquon first and foremost

Second would be hopefully the progression of our very young defense.
Like the Optimism!

We mostly all have been very frustrated with recent years but hopefully the big step takes place this year.

1. Excited that our offense is going to be top ten in the league and balanced.

2. Our defense though young, seems talented and they are gonna defend every inch with great pride. Some nice veteran leadership and a big bounce back from Jenkins.

3. No more player and mom interviews with Jossina Anderson.

4. Shurmur establishing himself as a good Head Coach who wins this year. Last chance coach. Storied franchise, storied Division, good family ownership and a GM who is hell bent on making the Giants tough again. Doesn't get any better PS.

I'm looking forward to an improved offensive line

and some of the rookie defensive weapons we added in the off season. Unfortunately for me and the Giants, both of those things usually don't show well for a couple of the first weeks of the season. The line needs time to gel and rookies need time to learn......
I’m excited about everything

I love our team this year more than I have in a very long time. Can’t wait to see them Sunday. Oh, and yes, even though I have become a huge DJ fan, I will support and root for Eli big time. I just doubt he can make the short to intermediate throws better than DJ can, although he does have the experience in reading defenses.
Been a long time since we've seen

Saquon. I hope he runs a wheel route which the Cowboys have anticipated - and he breaks two tackles for a TD anyway.
Actually,

I hope he just trucks a couple of guys.
Eli might still be able to play but the WR's

Will not get separation and it will be ugly.
I am pumped to see Barkley play this year and hopeful of the secondary especially Baker who I really wanted pre-draft.
Not a fan of the safeties, Peppers need to prove he can play the position and not continue to bite and play action or double moves.
Hopefully they are able to get pressure other wise it will be a very long season.
Basically 3/5ths or more of the starting line up
djm : 9/6/2019 9:23 pm : link
is made up of guys drafted from 2017-2019. Add Shepard into it from 2016. We’re talking about 12 starters. All drafted within the top 3-4 rounds. Some have starred early. Most have shown at least solid starter ability, early. The fact that we’re excited about all of them speaks volumes. The 4-5 rookies obviously have to show up when the real games begin but the giants have finally stocked the pipeline again. If this rookie class is half as good as we think were gonna be in good shape.

Finally, it dawned on me that the giants don’t have as many bad danger zone type players anymore. Average and flawed is one thing, we have those but not as many sore spots. That’s really what did us in the last few years, or longer...
I think most of us

are most excited to see Daniel Jones play. I would love to see Eli have a great season and go out on a high note but at the same time I am very excited to see Jones especially after the training camp and preseason that he had.

Watching Jones, Barkley, Engram, and Shepard develop together is going to be fun.

Holy crap, can you imagine Saquon behind Dallas oline or 2008 Giants oline, jetting into a gaping hole with a full head of steam, instead of facing a jailbreak in the backfield every play???

If cowboys anticipate a SB wheel route, that should be an "easy" 1 on 1 go route to a Latimer.
I really think that Barkley
Leg of Theismann : 9/7/2019 12:29 am : link
Is going to carry this team to a few more wins than they're supposed to win. Not a lot of RBs in history can do that almost single-handedly (Barry Sanders was one of them). He was so good last year and he's going to be even better this year. There's a reason Gettleman took an RB #2 overall and it's because he has that type of ability. I think people are underestimating this team and while I'm not entirely sure they will make the playoffs, I do think Saquon is going to be the reason they shock some people.

That and the fact that Eli always plays best with a chip on his shoulder, and I would say this year of all years he has the biggest chip on his shoulder than he's had in a long time. Even last year he didn't really have that chip because so many people were defending him following the 2017 "bench-gate". This year he absolutely has that chip. A lot of people saying he's done, saying the Giants are better off without him and his cap hit, a lot of people already saying his 22 year old future successor is better than him! I say Eli comes out swingin' this year.
Love the optimism...

I am excited for the start of the season as well. I am always filled with optimism before we get going. Last several years we have crashed and burned right out of the gate. But, this year feels different. It's the way the team is constructed... the OL and DL improvements have me so pumped. Saquan, Shep, Engram, and Eli able to run the offense without the constant DL penetration is a welcome relief.

The youth on defense at every level has me intrigued. I can't wait to watch them develop and get better.

I think we are better than the pundits think. It's gonna be a fun year. Go Big Blue!
