Thanks for the link. Small criticism I have is the studio set. It just seems "small" and cheap. I'm distracted by seeing Banks and Diehl trying to balance on the bar-stools. Also, they need to dampen the residual noise. The set's surfaces are hard and voices tend to "trail". Just seems with a flagship franchise that they could do better.
My honest assessment of this team is that it’s probably an 8-8 team. And while that’s certainly not the end result we all want, for the first time in about a decade I actually feel like this team has a future. It’s being built around the trenches. It has high character, tough players, who are more concerned with football than popularity. It feels like a NY Giants team.
Sure, there are some missing ingredients. The pass rush is at best an unknown. Our ILBs could be better. Are the collection of #2 and #3 WRs enough (I think so). But you know what. None of that matters now. It’s all real today. No more hypotheticals. No more hot takes and discussion of next generation analytics. There’s only one metric that matters for the next 17 weeks and that’s wins.
You can point to all the numbers you like but the questions to ask is did they execute, did they make a play, did they prepare properly, did they win. It’s time for this proud flagship franchise to shake off the rust of shame and underachievement it has shackled itself with since 2012. It is time to dominate the line of scrimmage, deliver a blow, and keep it going for 60 minutes. No one is giving these 53 (52 today) men a chance. Some predict an even worse season than last year. I say, fine, doubt them. Bring it on. You think the franchise that traded one of the most talented WRs in the game, let a probowl SS walk, and drafted a QB from Duke at #6 overall, and a RB at #2 overall cares one ounce what you think. Dave Gettleman, Pat Schurmur, Eli Manning, Daniel Jones, and Saquon Barkley are the Honey Badgers of the NFL. They simply don’t give a “expletive deleted” what anyone else thinks. And I love it.
Rise or fall this team is going to do it their way. And isn’t that very New York. Players like Barkley, Engram, Lawrence, Ballentine, Hernandez, Hill, and Baker have to make you excited. You can doubt this team in 2019, you can give them no chance today, but the Giants have built a team that is mentally tough, tone deaf to the sports tabloids, and knows it’s identity. So yeah, I’m excited for this season. Today is the first step towards this franchise reclaiming it’s true identity on and off the field. Whatever the record this year, the NFL will know the Gmen are back and they’re gong to pit their will against yours, and be as nasty as they ever were.
- Few cups of coffee this morning as I surf BBI & emails
- 3 mile run
- shower and dress for church with family
- pray for various things, including NYG win
- lunch and check in on 1pm games
- prep dinner fixings - chicken quesadillas
- beer(s) or martini(s) - to be determined
- watch game
- eat
- check in on BBI and see if rest of you all are ecstatic or apopletic
Excited now. Even with no-name WRs, Manning, Barkley and Engram Â
rekindle my passion for Giants Football. These past few seasons have drained it a bit. Unfortunately, I don’t think the front office has done enough to make the team much more than a middle of the pack also ran. Wide receivers, linebackers, pass rush are weak spots. That’s not a recipe for success in in a pass first league. Offensive line will be improved, but the offense wasn’t our major failure last year. Defense was, and it still isn’t going to be good after the changes that have been made. Maybe some young guys surprise. Hope so.
RE: Jimmy Googs: win or lose, there will still be plenty of apoplectic Â
Even winning a blowout won’t calm some down. They will complain that Jones should have played sooner.
If we somehow win in a blowout, it would be awesome to see Jones come in for mop up duty in the 4th. Eli and Daniel can then sign the same spot where Eli opened Jerrah's World.
to have success in this game. I think our Oline with have moderate success in doing so, but the defense may have tough sledding. I’m not sold on our LBers either and I think that’s where this game will be won or lost. We have a few guys that are intriguing, LoCarter, Golden and Ximines, but they haven’t proven anything yet IMO. If we can keep it close in the 4th, maybe we will be pleasantly surprised by a little Eli magic and a last minute FG to win it. That would make my day, week and month!

This strikes me as the most sincere JG post of all time.
And let's fucking hope we're all ecstatic when the day is over - one way or another, I think this is going to be a season that matters for this franchise, let's get it started with some positive energy and kick the ever loving shit out of the Cowboys!

This team was stacked with a bunch of unlikeable unGiant personalities. GM, coach, and diva WR throwing their class act NYs greatest sports icon QB under the bus, a bunch of head cases, cringe worthy FO personnel.
DG really turned things around, I've never seen a team so excited for each other during preseason, a very likeable young team.

Thanks! Just watched the entire thing with a cup of coffee on my screened in porch. Pumped up!
Play to win
Unleash Barkley and Engram
Minimize mental errors especially on defense

Isn’t it remarkable, and in a way a blessing, how much pleasure, no matter the age, Sports can provide
Some don’t keep it in perspective, but for most of us it s a pretty healthy outlet.

With an unproven defense, bet the OVER, no matter what the number is.

I still wake up like a kid on Christmas Morning every single time this day comes each year.
Not sure I even need this coffee today.
Giants/Cowboys. A brand new season. A chance to move in a better direction and put the past behind us.
We're all Giants fans today. Let's fucking go.
