Fantasy Football - Kickoff Day - 9/8

arcarsenal : 9/8/2019 8:42 am
Pretty much locked and loaded for Week 1 - shouldn't need to make too many lineup decisions, but I'm quibbling a bit with my WR3 spot in one league.

Robby Anderson has been a bit limited and is going up against a very good Buffalo secondary, so I think I want to sit him today.

Alternatives are...

Curtis Samuel vs. LAR
Dante Pettis @ TB
Mike Gallup vs. NYG

Think I am going to roll with Samuel. But I might just be over thinking.
I am playing Anderson but I don't have those options.
robbieballs2003 : 9/8/2019 8:48 am : link
Anderson had a good game against Buffalo last year so I am hoping he can do the same.

I have a lot of stock in Tyrell Williams. In fact, I have him in 3 of 4 leagues. He is starting in all but one because I have Beckham and Kupp ahead of him.
Flex in PPR
LarmerTJR : 9/8/2019 8:49 am : link
I have to choose between Robert Woods, Eckler, and Locket...leaning Eckler...

I like Samuel. I have him in 4 of 5 leagues, but there has to be some trepidation about Cam’s foot. I’m leaning toward sitting him, even in the high scoring matchup.

I would roll with Pettis. The entire offense about him having to earn a roster spot and playing time was all coach speak. He’s the #1A, with M Goodwin, but Goodwin is the big play threat. Especially if it’s PPR, I’d roll with pettis in what you assume to be, a high scoring game as well

Just my 2 cents

I would choose Ekeler too? If you aren't going to play him now when he is starting then why draft him? You drafted him because you expect nice numbers for about 8 to 10 weeks.

arcarsenal : 9/8/2019 8:58 am : link
I really like Pettis this year - I just worry about deploying him Week 1 and winding up with a dud. I definitely think he's the WR1 there. Marquise Goodwin just isn't that good. He's more of a trackstar/one trick pony. I think Deebo Samuel could force his way into the mix sooner than later... but Pettis should be getting a lot of the non-Kittle targets there.

Samuel feels like the 'safest' play to me. My opponent already got very little from his Rodgers/Adams combo - so, I'm in good shape off the bat in this matchup and am really just trying to hit chalk.

Gotta go Eckeler there.

That is a conundrum. None of those guys scream must start. With that said, I think rolling the dice with Samuel is probably the safest bet. I read that he was virtually uncoverable this preseason. I was very interested in drafting him, but missed out. Let’s see if the hype fits.

In my case, I’m torn on who to start at FLEX. Non-ppr, M. Mack or T. Lockett? I’m going with Lockett because I think he’s got the better matchup by a wide margin. The Colts offense has me nervous. I don’t think I can rely on them against good defenses like the Chargers.
Flex .5 ppr
Dr. D : 9/8/2019 9:31 am : link
Phillip Lindsay at Oak
Tyler Boyd at Sea
Evan Engram

I'm leaning Engram

I would probably go Lockett. IND does have a very good OL now and will probably lean on the run more without Luck... but the Chargers are tough and they'll probably challenge Brissett by trying to take Mack out of the game. Lockett feels safer.

Sanders and it should be a no-brainer.

Are any of you guys commissioners in Yahoo leagues?

I always set the league I run so that Waivers run Game Time - Tuesday... the players are all supposed to lock as soon as their team kicks off and remain locked through Tuesday regardless of whether they're in the starting lineup or on the bench.

I just had a guy in my league that was able to drop Geronimo Allison for DK Metcalf. He didn't start Allison, but Allison should have been locked until the next waiver period, no? I know if he had actually started Allison, he wouldn't have been able to do that... but I feel like even if he was on the bench, he still shouldn't be able to drop him until next week.

Is there a setting I can switch to make it that way or is this just how it is? I don't remember being able to do that in the past but maybe I'm just misremembering.

I like Samuels. They may have to keep pace with LA and throw the ball.

Help. Pick 3.

C Cupp
B Cooks
W Fuller
C Godwin
D Singletary
Darius Guice or Alshon Jeffrey at flex?
ron mexico : 9/8/2019 10:28 am : link
With AP likely to be a healthy screatch, thinking of going with the guaranteed touches of Guice

you can drop a guy that was on your bench that already played

arcarsenal : 9/8/2019 10:33 am : link
I guess it has always been that way... for some reason I thought they would lock regardless of whether or not the owner actually started the player.

It’s interesting cause I am commissioner of my Yahoo league and did exactly what the guy in your league did lol... but admittedly it seems weird that I can drop someone who played, but as you said I think that’s always been the case for benched players. I know you were able to drop guys on game day for instance in anticipation of waivers. The Thursday games add a kind of grey area now, and I’m not sure they offer a solution there. But I haven’t looked crazy hard, so let me know what you find.

My situation was I dropped Trubisky for Ty Williams. I’m happy I could do it, lol, but maybe Yahoo should allow a lock rule for Thursday players.

Guice 100%.

Gruden seems hell bent on proving a point w Guice.
Which QB would you start today?
EricJ : 9/8/2019 12:03 pm : link
Lamar Jackson
Baker Mayfield
Tom Brady

If Philly gets a big lead, Guice won't get many carries. Thompson still takes the 3rd down RB snaps.

Coin-flip between LJ & BM. Maybe lean to LJ for the matchup? TB could have a great one just the same, but I'd wait for AB since that's his best situation (tho I saw he's 5-0 vis Pit in NE). Hard to pick tho, any one could have a huge game...
I have much the same: Big Ben or Russell Wilson?
ChaChing : 9/8/2019 12:32 pm : link
Real close, but Ben apparently struggles at NE overall. I think Russell might do a little more running esp early until his targets settle and has the matchup (CIN is 2nd worst vs QBs). But it may rain, and as said who's he gonna throw to? I'm hoping Metcalf becomes a speedy Jimmy Graham but we'll see

Thoughts? Who would you play & why - Ben or Russell?

I would check home and road splits for Roethlisberger because I thought he was bad on the road last year.
Good thought, I should keep an eye on that more often
ChaChing : 9/8/2019 12:53 pm : link
pro football ref has all that readily available

Actually, splits are about the same. Even checked his numbers vs NE which have been a bit lower but not awful (actually he has much lower numbers vs NYG, tho he's 3-1)

Other thing w/ RW, Cin is the worst team vs RBs, but they are somewhat better against WRs...

Lol overthinking it. I have til the 2nd game to just pick one!
My first FF positive of the year...
ChaChing : 9/8/2019 1:47 pm : link
Sammy Watkins' 150 yds & 2 TDs (in a qtr or so) - on my opponent's bench. Check

Ouch. I was lucky playing against Watkins on the bench

But also played AJones, DFreeman for less than 10 total, and Jarvis Landry while TY & Fitz were on my bench for about 15-17 pts more (I considered TY over AJones due to the matchup v Chi but didn't). Still have a shot, but DWatson has to get a little over 16.5 so it's all but locked as an L. I had JJSS who did something but not enough...and played against the NE D in a league that boosts pts against value (so a JJSS TD would have been HUGE if not 1 TD from a top 2018 O......nope). Was right to play Wilson over BR...

I also should have trusted my gut and moved CDavis for either Waller or Brady, among others, tho I thought he'd be a solid backup. On my bench of course, but 0pts & 3 tgts...so HE'S gone
