getting rid of players like him. You want to give $20m per year to a guy who isn’t a top notch pass rusher and has a questionable work ethic/attitude? No thanks. He’s got free agent busy written all over him.
Continue drafting and not getting locked into long, top-dollar contracts. Even with Clowney playing today the Giants would be losing due to all the blown coverage.
But this team, Organization is lost. They don’t have good direction. They needed to make changes but never really do. They lose a player like a starter and don’t even get a starter quality player? They just get someone from the bench and hope it pans out. They have been doing this for so long now. Their starters and depth are bad on both sides of the ball.
This, this and more this. I doubt Jacksonville will let him go, he is too good
I'm sure they will try and keep the gang together. But Josh Allen makes Yannick a luxury they may not be able to afford especially with Jalen looking to get paid.
RE: RE: I dont wanna go back to aying top dollar for not actually elite talent Â
Yannick is elite. He get Demarcus money. While he has stacked up the sacks, he best attribute is the force fumbles.
I dont disagree. Clowney is a (fairly emphatic) no for me though.
Absolutely. Clowney is a dog. Ideally, it would be nice to draft and develop a top pass rush. But paying Yannick is not a bad thing. When we paid OV, we projected that he would be a double digit sack leader. He was young and healthy. The problem was the projection. He always was the guy he is. With Yannick, you have youth, health, and production. You don't need to project. He has proven what he is capable of.
I still think Jax will make every effort to sign him. But as I mentioned above, Allen being on his rookie deal and having to pay Jalen might force Yannick to draw the short straw.
Clowney wanted to go to Seattle in a trade instead of anywhere else. He wants to play with a successful defense, not what the Giants are putting on the field. There no chance he becomes a FA anyways since he'll probably re-sign at his choice of a team he wanted to be traded to.
Why?

Agreed, he's only 24 also and he has 29.5 sacks over the past 3 seasons.
