I don't think many thought we'd win this game. I think we all thought we'd be more competitive though. The Dallas roster is just better than ours across the board and where we have an edge, they are just a small step down with Zeke.
Defense:
- I've haven't seen so many blown coverages in the Defense since the CC Brown days. A lot of rookies and new guys back there, but it's still surprising just how free those guys were running. And it was mistake after mistake, not just two or three. Just brutal. A few ugly missed tackles too, particularly on a would-be third-down stop to force a fied goal. Instead, they convert and later score a TD.
- Dak had all day in the pocket. No surprises here, the Giants haven't had a pass rush since the days of Osi, Tuck, and JPP. Maybe someone will emerge later in the year.
- Run defense. I thought our run defense did better than many likely expected. That is the lone positive on the defense.
Offense:
- Shurmur needs to take some heat for not running the ball more. Barkley opened up with a 59-yard run. The game was not out of hand when Shurmur moved away from the run.
- Offense line gave Eli more time than we are used to seeing.
Closing:
Eli would be decent if this team had a really Defense, but we don't and Eli isn't going to win anything with his legs or athleticism. He still does dumb stuff. Still botches short passes. I expect we will win our next couple of games and this will cloud judgment. But this team is not going to the playoffs. Might as well see what we have in DJ sooner than later. It's just a matter of time before this team is eliminated from the playoffs.
This year is about next year. I said it all offseason and DJ is a big part of next year. How long will we wait?
+1(000000000000)
The thing is, this game's stat line is fairly impressive and will contribute positively to Eli's stat line overall. Enough games like these and we have a losing record, but Eli throwing for over 4000 yards and 20 TDs again.
"Damn media, always saying things we don't want hear..its a conspiracy!"
Shurmur's game plan was beat them with the passing game. Our defense needs to stay off the field so running the ball would have been the way to go.
I also greatly dislike the way Shurmur complains to the refs, and then the next play the Giants run is a disaster! Focus on the game.
Are you talking about my post? Who did you want me to criticize more? The shitty WRs we are fielding? I guess, but we knew the WRs were a weakness. Not sure who else you are looking to criticize. The Offenses problems were highlighted. We didn't run the ball enough and Eli is old and slow. Felt the offensive line played okay. I don't like Shurmur as a play-caller. I'd do things differently, but at least it's not McAdoo.

And it will distract from the likelihood that Eli no longer gives this team the best chance to win. Wouldnt have mattered today but he left a few out there. There will probably be a day where it is the deciding factor.

Which begs the question: what is this season for? What is it going to accomplish?
If the answer is "Eli's legacy" you're fucking up.

with no blame because our defense sucked? Shouldn't the side of the ball with most of the money and high draft pick at least perform up to average even when the other side of the ball is bad?

That sounds more like a legit post mortem of our offense and not just the few point you stated above..
But keeping him in there when the team is in rebuild and not getting jones teeth cut will very quickly be the worst mismanagement team is faced with. D sucks but hope is 1st and 2nd year players get better. Barkley also has a window to take advantage of.
Giants are trying to be competitive so i get Eli starting but it looks like this will not be a competitive year. i hope they treat it like 04 soon.
I just pray we don’t waste him prime with mostly mediocre teams like Barry Sanders and the Lions

expecting a great game, but even considering that, he didn't look good at all.
I don't think he defended one pass.
As bad as Baker was, Hamilton was far worse. Guy cannot tackle after leaving receivers open.
